What Buying Our Books Means for the Local Economy
A lot of folks don't know how impactful buying a book written, published and distributed right here in the Pacific Northwest can be for the local economy, so we thought we'd take a quick second to explain it. By placing your order with a teeny tiny press like Blue Cactus Press, you're helping to ensure *everyone* in the production and sales chain gets compensated for their artistry and expertise. This includes the author, cover artist, editor, designer, printer, independent bookstore and publisher. Buying local ensures your hard-earned money goes right back into your community. Purchasing one book - just one - actively helps small businesses thrive. So, thank you, truly, for supporting us.
A Long-winded Thank You from the Publisher
Death to the short answer! Especially when I want to say thank you to all the readers, friends and family members, and community members who joined us last month for Michael Haeflinger's book launch at King's Books. Thank you! We had over 60 people attend the event in celebration of Haeflinger and his slick, new poetry book, Low Static Rage. I was blown away by the support you all demonstrated, and by the support from others who couldn't be there in person. To every one who cheered Mike on, kept him sane while editing/writing/compiling, shared our news about the book on social media, or cheered us on from across the country: thank you so very, very much. Blue Cactus Press and the authors who're a part of our family wouldn't be here if it weren't for your continued support. Much love from Tacoma. - Christina
