Consuming Kinetics Dance Company is a 501c3 nonprofit professional dance company and community dance education center in St. Louis, Missouri. CKDC specializes in a diverse blend of adult drop-in classes and runs a comprehensive youth program that educates children ages 3 – 18. CKDC is committed to making dance accessible to everyone by providing scholarship opportunities to youth and adults in need. CKDC’s program welcomes all levels of dancers including beginners, at every age. CKDC’s educational program also supports the mission to create job opportunities for full time artists.
Consuming Kinetics Dance Company will debut their Fall show, The Blue Zone, at The Marcelle. Located in the Grand Center Arts District, The Marcelle features a state of the art black box theatre.
There will be four shows. October 25 at 8:00pm, October 26 at 2:00pm, October 26 at 8:00pm, and October 27 at 2:00pm. Tickets are $25 a person plus a service charge and currently on sale at Metro Tix. We highly encourage purchasing tickets early as each of the shows sell out every year.

Celebrate the season with the first Halloween Pop-Up bar in St. Louis. The Hideout will become Corpse Reviver for two deliciously scary weeks. Corpse Reviver will transform the bright and modern event space into a haunted drinking den for two weeks leading up to Halloween, Thursday October 17 – Saturday, November 2. St. Louis' most legendary Halloween street party returns to the Central West End Scene (CWEscene) on Saturday, Oct. 26! Festivities kick off with fun daytime activities for the whole family. Then, as the sun sets, the party continues with an adults-only bash and costume contest, known for its elaborate, complex and outrageous costumes and featuring $6,000 in cash and prizes! Tuesday, October 22 - Left Bank Books - presents assistant professor in the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts at Washington University Heidi Aronson Kolk, who will sign and discuss her book, Taking Possession: The Politics of Memory in a St. Louis Town House (University of Massachusetts Press, May 2019) on Tuesday, October 22, 7:00 p.m. at Left Bank Books (399 N. Euclid). This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of Taking Possession from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.
Tuesday, October 22 - Bowood Farms - Eye Pillow Blends - 3p – 4p - Homemade eye pillows are the perfect addition to any self-care routine. We will help you design the ideal blend of dried herbs and flowers for your needs. Once you have selected your herbal blend, you will fill your pillow and stitch it closed. All materials and supplies are provided, and you’ll go home with your finished eye pillow. Workshop is limited to 12 participants. $45
Wednesday, October 23 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Monthly Music Series: Todd Mosby: Open Waters—Join us for an evening of Indian jazz with acclaimed guitarist Todd Mosby. Performing music from his new release Open Waters, Mosby creates a new musical syntax integrating Indian classical music and Western music, encompassing elements from classical, folk, bluegrass, and jazz. Event begins at 7:00 p.m. RSVP.
Thursday, October 24 - Bowood Farms - Knife Skills with Cafe Osage - 2p – 3:30p - Join Cafe Osage’s chef, Scott Davis, in this hands-on workshop focused on basic knife skills. Scott will demonstrate fundamental cuts and coach your technique while you practice. You’ll learn tips for maintaining and sharpening your knives and enjoy light bites at the end of the class. You are encouraged to bring your own knife, but we will provide knives to use as well. Workshop is limited to 8 participants. $45
Thursday, October 24 - Left Bank Books presents award-winning author Kekla Magoon, who will sign and discuss her new young adult novel, Light It Up (Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), October 2019) on Thursday, October 24, 7:00 p.m. at Left Bank Books (399 N. Euclid) in conversation with Lauron Thompson-Cosby, Cofounder and Artistic Director of TLT Productions. This event is free and open to the public, but proof of purchase of Light It Up from Left Bank Books will be required to enter the signing line.

Friday, October 25 - Bowood Farms - Modern Calligraphy- 10a – 1p - Learn the art of calligraphy with a modern twist! Professional Calligrapher, Katherine Yabes, of Handwritten by Katherine will expertly guide you through an introduction to calligraphy. Learn all the basic lettering techniques, get comfortable using a pointed pen and ink, and practice joining letters and forming words and phrases. Take home the pen, nib, ink, and worksheets to continue your practice at home. Since this is a longer workshop, Cafe Osage will provide baked goods for a snack. Workshop is limited to 12 participants. $65

Saturday, October 26 - Bowood Farms -Iris Barn Floral Arranging- 11a-1p -Immerse yourself in the dramatic, floral world of Larysa Bernhardt of Iris Barn. Larysa grows and forages flowers on her small-scale farm to create romantic arrangements with layers of colors and textures. Through this hands-on class you will learn how to create your own beautiful centerpiece with tips from Larysa. The stunning arrangement you create, along with the vessel are yours to take home. Everyone from a flower-loving novice to an experienced designer will walk away inspired with new skills. Workshop is limited to 12 participants. $75

Saturday, October 26 - Bowood Farms -Botanical Plaster Prints Workshop - 2-4p - Create a series of three nature-inspired plaster prints with our guidance. We will use flowers, foliage and twigs to leave impressions on clay, followed by a pour of plaster. The resulting casts capture the delicate details of the botanicals. All materials and supplies are provided, and you’ll go home with a trio of prints. Workshop is limited to 12 participants. $45
Sunday, October 27 - Bowood Farms - Lunar Gardening 101 - 3-4p - Demystify the ancient agricultural art of lunar gardening in this class taught by Drew Dinges. Drew will walk attendees through a gardening to-do-list exploring how to work in tandem with the moon’s phases and astrological correspondences. He will discuss how to use a moon calendar to decide the best dates to sow seeds, when to harvest and plant certain crops, and also how to determine the best time to prune and fertilize. Explore the essential components of creating your own moon garden, just in time for October’s full moon. $10
Sunday, October 27 - Organist Michael Unger performs a recital on Sunday, October 27 at 4:00 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church. Dr. Unger is the Assistant Professor of Organ and Harpsichord at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Saturday, November 2 - Bowood Farms - Sashiko Embroidery - 10a – 1p - Sashiko embroidery originated in Japanese textile arts, in which decorative straight stitch patterns were used to mend and reinforce homespun fabrics. Despite its traditional roots, the abstract motifs typical of this meditative hand-stitching technique lend themselves perfectly to modern design. In this workshop, Casey will introduce sashiko materials and the basic stitch and you will embellish a fabric square. All materials and supplies are provided, and you’ll go home with your project, sashiko needle and thread. Since this is a longer workshop, Cafe Osage will provide baked goods for a snack. Workshop is limited to 10 participants. $60.
Wednesday, November 6 - World Chess Hall of Fame - Sip & Sketch: Editorial Collage with Deb Douglas - 6:30-8pm - Join us for an evening of collaging with assemblage aficionado Deb Douglas! Inspired by the advertisements on view in "A Beautiful Game," participants will create their own unique compositions using fashion editorials and vintage ads as source material. No previous experience necessary.

Wednesday, November 6 - Gamlin Whiskey House - Women & Whiskey - On the first Wednesday of every month, raise a glass with us and your fellow women who whiskey! November’s dinner will be hosted by Benay Shannon of the Kansas City-based Restless Spirits Distilling. You will learn to work from the actual subject, rather than photos, to create loose and unique paintings. Get to know your palette and explore what makes painting with watercolor unique. Cathedral Concerts announces their 2019 - 2020 season - Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts, an independent nonprofit that brings sacred and classical music to St. Louis from world-class musicians, releases its concert lineup for the 27th season. The 2019-2020 season kicks off Monday, July 29th at 8:00pm, and continues through Friday, April 21st, 2020. The series of live concerts will showcase notable musicians in one of the world’s most striking cathedrals, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis located at 4431 Lindell Blvd. The Cathedral Concerts’ 27th Concert Series Season includes:
