Selling your work

If you sell a print and it was printed at Harvey Norman or at home, you will need to get Neil Martin to do a quality reprint for you asap. We will get customers to leave their name and contact details for you to arrange payment and delivery. Don't forget to tell Neil you are from Camera Club as we have arranged a special price for you.

Do you want to make cards for sale?

There may be an opportunity for you to produce cards to sell during the exhibition. This is an honesty system where the volunteers assist customers to put the cash into an envelope and put it into a locked drop box. The envelope will state which card they are buying. All care taken, no responsibility accepted. If you think this is something you would like to do, contact Pam for more information.

Workshop night: 21 November

This night will be all about food! We'll be trying food photography, so please bring along food of any sort, especially if it's photogenic!
You'll need your camera, tripod, and lighting if you have any.
The possibilities are endless for this subject, although you might have to watch out for hungry club members!
Here are some videos with ideas about lighting and composition. Have a look on Google for ideas.

AGM: Calling for nominations

The AGM is coming up on 5 December, so anyone you is interested in a committee position, please let us know. It's not  too onerous and you get a chance to get more involved in club planning sessions.
Two members of the committee are standing down, so we'd love some new faces and fresh ideas. Committee meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday night of each month at 7.30pm. Meetings are held at committee members' homes.

Olympus workshop

The workshop on macro and light painting was a big success and was well attended by 45 club members from all over Northland.

The Olympus guys showed some photography tricks, and some cool gadgets as well as allowing people to see the features on their range of cameras.
PSNZ, which sponsored the workshop, published an article about the workshop in their magazine.

Interclub

The Interclub competition was won by Whangarei Camera Club this year. Congratulations to everyone who had an image chosen for this hotly contested trophy. And a special congratulations to Julie Horlock for taking out the top image trophy. She also won the mystery prize in the raffles, so it was definitely her night!!
Other raffle winners were Mark Anderson, John Richards and Christine Frost.
Thanks to Rose Tantau for making up the beautiful raffle baskets.

Rotoroa Island trip

This trip was great fun for the 12 pirates who took over the island for the weekend. The beautiful appointed houses were spot on, and the hardest thing was keeping the over-friendly weka out of the front door. The walks around the island were enjoyable, with plenty of saddlebacks, tui, weka, teal, dotterels and fantails to see along the way.

Donation

The family of the late Don Gwilliam sold off his collection of old film photography books and raised $150, which they have gifted to the club.

How's that Self-assignment?

This is your own project for the year, where you get to choose your topic and put together a portfolio of three to five images. The idea is to push yourself to try new techniques and advance your knowledge and creativity.
Make sure you choose your topic soon, so you can start to put images aside for that as it seems to come around very quickly! There is a cool trophy too!

Christmas Do

Christmas celebrations will be held on Thursday 19 December.

We'll meet for a barbecue and Christmas Photo Challenge on the Riverside Drive side of the Town Basin. There's a small park beside the cafe there, so hopefully that will get us away from the crowds on the other side. Please bring chairs, tables, portable bbq if you have one, cameras, salad to share, meat for yourselves.
Meet there from 6.30pm onwards.
