President's Update

The season has flown by and we find ourselves nearing the halfway point of the year with most of our teams in the top 4. We also have our Past Players & Life Members Day tomorrow and I look forward to seeing you all there!

Off the field, we had a big win at the Nedlands Council Committee Meeting with Leo McManus moving and Ben Hodsdon seconding our motion to keep our lease fees low for our clubrooms. Many thanks to both Councillors McManus and Hodsdon as well as the Council for voting in favour of the motion. The funds that had been allocated towards covering the proposed increase will now be re-allocated to our first ever women's team!

Thanks to your hard working committee we have been successful in obtaining a federal grant through the office of Celia Hammond, Member for Curtin. The grant will provide roof netting for our turf training nets.

In baby news, congratulations to Luke and Sarah Baker on the birth of their daughter Sophie as well as Pete and Eliza Ryan on the birth of their son Philip.

Due to WASTCA changes in fixturing we have some changes in our social calendar. Please check out the new social calendar below. As usual please take a moment to check our the playing dates, season fees, various policies and our social calendar below. Any questions, please email me by clicking here.

Message from the Coach
Over the past month we’ve seen both ends of the weather spectrum, some of our sides might think that’s also been their experience of the season so far. Amongst the up’s and down’s of the start of the year it’s been most pleasing to see really healthy attendance at training and around the club post match on a Saturday night.

I’m not sure how much time you spend on Mycricket or whether you’re willing to confess to your nerdish ways as you take a deep dive into your stats, but one area I’m always keen to dissect is our partnerships. As much as we all hope to go out and play that match winning innings on a Saturday, contributing to a partnership sets up matches for our team. If our mindsets are about sharing in big partnerships with our mates at the other end our team benefits and so do we. What about this weekend in our mid-pitch conversations if that’s the topic of conversation, “let’s build a big partnership together today.”
On Saturday I watched two bowlers put this concept of working in partnerships into action perfectly. They didn’t get the rewards wickets wise, but the 16 overs between them controlled the pace of the match and ultimately set up a victory for our side.

The club is excited to be launching a women’s team, obviously if you have a wife, girlfriend, sister or friend who’d be keen to play let’s make sure you invite them down. And if you personally would be keen to be involved and help out with some coaching we’d love for you to be part of it.
