The 'Diseases of Pollution and Urbanization' Symposium has themes that will touch everyone affected directly or indirectly by urban modern living:

• Lung and cardio-vascular diseases: for example COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and asthma;
• Infectious diseases: caused by overcrowding or insanitary conditions;
• Diseases from unhealthy lifestyles: for example, bad diets and diabetes;
• Mental health problems: resulting from stress or isolation.
