DOUBLE TAKE
If you managed to catch Craig's recent interview with Kim Hill on RNZ National Radio you may have heard him mention one of his current works-in-progress entitled 'Double Take'.
This is a book idea that Craig has been thinking about doing for a long time and has started to take shape this year.
"Ever since I started taking photographs I'll very often take an image very close to the image that preceded it and I would just move the camera very slightly on the tripod, it was quite specific. It was very much that I was making a perfect composition and getting everything in the right place. That's all fine except when I get to the lightbox I have to decide between the two. Which one is the one that I will present, as me to the world, that this it the archetypal image I have chosen. This way, in my book I will put both images side by side for the viewer to make their own response. They might be very, very close to each other but then subtly different."
