In the Parish this weekend

Welcome again to our weekly parish email newsletter.  It's another special weekend for the parish, so we're sending this out early.

Following our wonderful Parish Eucharist with Bishop Geoff last weekend (see photo below) this week we mark two significant festivals in the church year.

During All Saints, we we rejoice and give thanks to those heroes of the faith whose lives have excited and been an example to others (and on a local level, we give thanks for the witness and mission of All Saints, Brocton).

The next day, we mark All Souls - a chance to commemorate the faithful departed.  'The believer's pilgrimage of faith is lived out with the mutual support of all the people of God.  In Christ all the faithful, both living and departed, are bound together in a communion of prayer' as the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission explained of this day.  We continue considering issues of death in our special Digging Deeper with Grave Talk Sunday 5pm at Holy Trinity.

I would encourage you all to join us for these significant days in our own individual lives and the life of the church.

Appeal for Staffordshire Women's Aid

Just some of the school uniforms brought by our MU.  Many thanks to everyone who contributed towards the purchase at our coffee morning - each item is very much appreciated.  They were presented at our meeting today (Wednesday 30th) to a representative from SWA.

Contributions for the Fayre can be placed in the boxes at the back of church.

Important Information

Parish Share Appeal

Those of you who have been here longer than me will be only too aware of the impact our Parish Share deficit has had – hanging over many of our decisions and thoughts.

When we write off this deficit, we will be opening a new chapter in the life of the parish. If we do not pay off our Parish Share in full this year, the agreement we have with the diocese to write off our debt will be cancelled, and we will have to find the full amount of the deficit.  This would mean that instead of the approx £4,000 extra we need to find to pay off our Parish Share between now and December we would need to raise £12,000.

We are currently 17% of our way there!

Safeguarding

The Diocese of Lichfield and the Church of England treats the duty of care it owes to children entrusted into our care very seriously.

The safety and security of children is of the utmost importance and guidelines and policies are part of the processes that have been adopted to ensure that all children taking part in activities in our churches may do so in a loving, caring and safe atmosphere.

Our Parish Safeguarding Policy, together with links to contacts for safeguarding advice and concerns can be found on the policies page of our website here.

The PCC encourages all members of the congregation to consider participating in a church-wide online Safeguarding Training course called C0.  This course helps equip us all to engage positively with the protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults in both a practical and theologically informed way.  You can access this course here.

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

God bless,

Fr Graham
