Support the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre

My electorate office is running a donation drive for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. We've had a great number of donations so far, and would love to see more members of the community to get involved.

School Maintenance Blitz

I know how important our local schools are to our community.

That's why every single state school in Albert Park and throughout Victoria will benefit from the largest boost to school maintenance ever undertaken.

The School Maintenance Blitz honours Victoria's status as The Education State.
It will enable schools to do essential works such as painting, replacing carpet and windows, landscaping, tree inspections and maintenance of infrastructure like septic systems and water services.

I'm proud to be part of an Andrews Labor Government that delivers on local promises and makes sure all state schools are well maintained, modern and safe.

Our First Ever Electric Bus

Victoria’s first locally built, fully electric bus will soon begin carrying passengers on one of our electorate's busiest routes, thanks to a partnership between the Andrews Labor Government and Transdev.

The bus will run on Route 246 between Elsternwick and Clifton Hill via St Kilda before potentially being used across other inner Melbourne routes.

The trial will run until 2021, with the aim of looking after our passengers and our environment.

Road Maintenance in Albert Park

Our road maintenance upgrades are now kicking off.

Throughout the warmer months we’ll be rebuilding, repairing and resurfacing roads across Victoria – including sections of Beach Street, Fitzroy Street and Williamstown Road.

It’ll mean smoother, safer and more reliable journeys for drivers right across our electorate.

Please remember to drive carefully through worksites for your safety and the safety of workers.

Delivering for Victorian Students

Pads and tampons are just as essential as toilet paper and soap. So in September, we started supplying them in all of our public schools – free of charge.

This $20.7 million investment will help reduce stigma and anxiety for school students, as well as saving families hundreds of dollars.

Early Childhood Education and Care

Albert Park is a great place for kids to live and learn.

To continue to help our littlest Victorians truly thrive, we're investing nearly $1 billion into early childhood education.

This landmark commitment to providing 15 hours of subsidised kindergarten programs for all three-year-old children by 2029 is something I am very proud of.

This initiative shows how important it is that all levels of government - federal, state and council - work together to provide the best early childhood education and care for our community.

Funding for Port Melbourne's Waterfront

The Andrews Labor Government is helping councils manage population growth with $4 million in grants and planning support for local governments across Victoria.

This includes $50,000 to help the City of Port Phillip develop a precinct plan for the redevelopment of Waterfront Place and Station Pier in Port Melbourne.

The program, now in its fourth year, provides grants and staff assistance for local town planning initiatives that result in new housing, jobs and infrastructure.

155 Target

Summer is on its way and we can look forward to some warmer weather here in Melbourne.

Hot weather usually means that we use more water. While it is crucial to stay hydrated and safe in the heat, it is also important to save water.

Target 155 is our voluntary water efficiency program to help Melbournians limit their water consumption. Our average annual daily use is around 161 litres per day but by making a few small changes, such as shorter showers or turning the tap off while brushing your teeth, we can reach our target of 155 litres per day.

For tips on how to save water visit our Using Water Wisely webpage.

VICSWIM Program

Teaching kids to swim is important - and now it's affordable too.

We're cutting the cost of swimming lessons this summer, because every child deserves to be safe around water.

The 2020 VICSWIM program will cost just $30 for five lessons. You can find out more and register for the program at www.vicswim.com.au.
