Sweeney Students Celebrate Kindness Week

Sweeney Elementary School celebrated Kindness Week October 21-25. A highlight of the week was the BMX show. Biker Dustin Grice and team brought their motivational jump show to the gym. They incorporated positive messages and lessons from Sweeney's PBIS (positive behavior intervention and supports) program into their show and the students loved it!

Shakopee High School Hosts Blood Drive

Giving blood can save lives. Students and staff at Shakopee High School participated in the first blood drive of the year in October. Students in the Health Science Academy helped recruit donors and also assisted the Memorial Blood Centers with making sure the entire process ran smoothly. The next blood drive is in January at the high school. Walk-ins are welcome!
National School Bus Safety Week
Please join us to recognize this week, October 21-25, 2019, as National School Bus Safety Week. The event, held during the third full week of October each year, focuses on the importance of school bus safety. The theme for 2019 is, My School Bus, The Safest Form of Student Transportation.

The National Safety Council estimates about 25 million students nationwide begin and end their day with a trip on a school bus. Students are 70 times more likely to get to school safely when taking a school bus instead of traveling by car, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Shakopee Public Schools appreciates the hard work of our bus drivers in transporting our students to school safely and home each day.
