Dear friends and partners,

As we honor our country's veterans, I also want to thank all the first responders, public safety officials, school employees, and everyone who worked tirelessly to keep our families safe as wildfires have raged across our state—especially the Getty Fire right here in Board District 4, and the nearby Saddle Ridge and Tick fires that affected all our schools across the San Fernando Valley. While we grapple with the effects of this seemingly new normal, I will continue to advocate for quicker, clearer, and more transparent communication with our school communities

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the students and school communities of Board District 4, and our work will continue—regardless of any hurdles we must overcome along the way.

With gratitude,

Richland ES & Venice HS Welcome Guests from Across the Globe!
Delegates from the French Consulate joined us at Richland Ave Elementary to recognize the thriving French Immersion program. We were thrilled to take this opportunity to announce the expansion of this program to a K-8 pipeline, with plans to extend to Venice High for a complete pathway!
Venice High welcomed Mayor Takashi Kawamura of LA's sister city, Nagoya, Japan, to highlight Venice's innovative programs and exchange helpful information to benefit students in both cities!

Our Latest School Visits & Community Meetings
The best part of our work is still spending time in our schools and with community partners. Some highlights from the past few weeks include: celebrating the arrival of the Chromebooks that my office helped fund for students at Mar Vista Elementary, town hall meetings to engage the West Hollywood Fairfax community around new pathways, joining partners at embRACE LA for a dynamic event about race and equity in Los Angeles, and my third year in a row emcee-ing the Annual Dey Rey Spelling Bee!
