This could definitely catch on.
About 50 GlynnDems turned out Nov. 20 to watch the presidential debate at Tipsy McSway's in Brunswick and Mas on St. Simons Island. Sometimes we all need a little time in a GOP-free zone, and we're always ready to create a friendly atmosphere for decompression.
The next debate is scheduled for Dec. 19 in Los Angeles. We'll keep you posted on our plans for watch parties. Win the whole Dem thing!.

This holiday season, give the gift of political candidacy
Eight members of our county committee stood up to run for public office in 2018. That slate was the party's biggest in Glynn County in years.
The people of Glynn County had real alternatives to the ruling Republicans on election day. We raised the party's profile and offered a glimmer of hope for change in our county and state government.
Won't you contribute in 2020 and consider running for office? We need change in our schools, change in our county government and change in the state Capitol.
We need to increase teacher salaries. We need a county government that is open and responsive to all of Glynn County. We need a state legislature that respects women's health choices and brings access to healthcare to all citizens. We need a congressional representative who rejects the racism, recklessness and criminality that permeates the White House.
All of the major elected offices in Glynn County will be decided in the 2020 presidential election cycle, as will several school board, county commission and state legislature seats. We've created a village of Democratic supporters who are standing by to support you next fall.

New members on Glynn County Democratic Committee

GRAND OPENING
 Our next general community meeting will be held Jan. 27 in our new party and campaign headquarters in Brunswick. Be on the lookout for details.
And, at our February meeting representatives from the Board of Elections will demonstrate the new voting machines coming online in 2020.

We have added several new members to the GlynnDems county committee over the last few months.
Congratulations to these new members and thank you for working diligently to promote the party in Glynn County.

Four county commission seats up for grabs

Julian “Puddy” Smith is likely the best-informed Democrat in the county on the workings of the Glynn County Board of Commissioners. He attends nearly every meeting and open work session -- often without any Democratic companionship.

The purpose of this message is not only to encourage Glynn County Democrats to prepare to run in the May 2020 primary for one of the four open seats on the Glynn County Board of Commissioners (BOC), but to encourage multiple Democratic candidates to challenge one another in that primary. One advantage of multiple candidates is that more Democrats get practical experience in how to run a potentially successful campaign.
These open seats are now held by Michael Browning (district one: the western side of the county), Peter Murphy (district two: the islands), Alan Booker (district four: the entire city of Brunswick and some unincorporated parts of the county to the north of the city), and Bob Coleman (at-large).
Republican Peter Murphy has announced he is not running for re-election (Cap Fendig, a former commissioner, has announced he will run for that seat in the GOP primary election). And although Commissioner Booker is the only Democrat on the BOC and is in his second four-year term, he (and the county) might benefit from a strong challenger from his party.
Anyone who is interested in running for one of these four seats should start preparing now by planning to attend future BOC meetings and work sessions as well as the meetings of the boards and commissions appointed by and reporting to the BOC: the Islands

Glynn County commissioners are discussing how to pay for renovations and and an expansion of the county courthouse.
and Mainland Planning Commissions (IPC/MPC), the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
You can find the agendas for these and other important meetings on the Glynn County Calendar of Events (simply google “Glynn County Calendar”).
Here, as I see it, are three of the most significant issues facing Glynn County voters in the May primary and the November general election:
1. The 2020 SPLOST.
2. The “update” of our county zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations.
3. The lack of serious, practical, and meaningful preparation for hurricanes and tidal surges.
There are many other issues that will be important in the upcoming elections, but some are little more than distractions.
