1.  Orlando's next theme park, Universal's Epic Universe, will open in 2023

We've known Orlando's next theme park was going to be "epic" since Aug. 1. That's when Universal Studios first announced Epic Universe, its fourth Central Florida park, was coming to Orlando.

2.  Six Flags names Pepsi executive as new President, CEO

Mike Spanos, 55, will take over as President and CEO of Six Flags upon Reid-Anderson's retirement on November 18. Spanos is currently Chief Executive Officer, Asia, Middle East and North Africa for PepsiCo. On the same date, Richard Roedel, who has served on Six Flags Board of Directors since December 2010, will take over Reid-Anderson's role as Chairman.

3.  Good News for Comcast Might Not Be Good News for Disney and SeaWorld

Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) became the first of the country's three major theme park operators to post financial results on Thursday, with SeaWorld Entertainment (NYSE:SEAS) and industry bellwether Disney (NYSE:DIS) set to step up early next month.

4.  Nickelodeon Universe rides open at American Dream. Here are 10 we know of, so far.

Nickelodeon Universe is scheduled to open Friday at American Dream. (I hope you got your ticket because it’s sold out for its first three days of operation).  At 8.5 acres and with 35 rides and attractions it will be the largest indoor amusement park in the country, unseating the 7-acre Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America, another Triple Five-owned property.

5.  Disney Feels The Force As New Star Wars Lands Create 15,500 Jobs

Disney has revealed that the new Star Wars lands at its theme parks in California and Florida have had a magic touch on the labor market as 15,500 new permanent and temporary jobs have been created by them since construction began in 2016.

6.  All the rides at amusement park found lacking in maintenance

None of the rides at a Mexico City amusement park where two people were killed in September had been properly maintained, the capital’s civil protection secretary revealed this week.

7.  Parc Astérix continues to break visitor records

Parc Astérix is ​​more popular than ever. The French amusement park broke a visitor record in 2019 for the third year in a row. This season, in which the park's 30th anniversary was celebrated, more than 2.3 million visitors passed the gates for the first time. Several major expansions are planned for the coming years.

8.  China and Saudi Arabia projects subject to potential further delays, says Six Flags boss

International licensing and the scheduling of new park openings abroad continue to be a challenge for Six Flags, with parks currently under construction in China and Saudi Arabia both subject to potential further delays.

9.  Theme park update: Here are the latest Universal Orlando projects

Universal's biggest project is obviously the massive development of Epic Universe theme park resort. Located on more than 700 acres of Universal Boulevard, it will house a new theme park, additional hotels and other related amenities. That project is slated to open by 2023, a Comcast executive revealed during an Oct. 24 third-quarter earnings call.
 

10.  44 years ago, Evel Knievel made death-defying jump in Cincinnati

MASON, Ohio —Forty-four years ago, Evel Knievel made a death-defying jump at Kings Island.  The daredevil made his most successful motorcycle jump on Oct. 25, 1975, flying over 14 Greyhound buses.

11.  Six Flags to host first and largest screening of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’

ST. LOUIS — "I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey."  Six Flags St. Louis will host its first-ever screening of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Nov. 1.  It will also be the largest screening of the cult-classic in Missouri’s history.

12.  Families wait for answers three years after tragedy

The condemned Thunder River Rapids ride is long gone, but tourists and locals are keen to try the park's brand-new $20 million Sky Voyager virtual reality ride, and brave the famed Tower of Terror one last time before it's decommissioned next month.

13.  Nearby residents slam Legoland truck traffic, noise

GOSHEN – Add construction trucks rumbling down Arcadia Road, and partially blocking it off for a few hours Wednesday morning, to some Town of Goshen residents’ Legoland gripes.

14.  HalloScream offers a unique, spooky experience at Kentucky Kingdom

Honkers the Clown is dead, and you’re invited to the funeral. Services are being held at Kentucky Kingdom every weekend through October as part of the theme park’s HalloScream seasonal attraction that includes a pair of haunted house attractions, a Friday the 13th ride, plus Halloween-themed food items, beverages, bars and souvenirs.

15.  Nightingale called for Busch Gardens Williamsburg contractor injured at Pantheon site

Bat. Chief Catlett with the James City County Fire Department confirmed the call came in at 8 a.m. about an injured person at the theme park. Units determined the patient needed to be taken to a trauma center, so they called Nightingale to respond.
 

16.  Bobbejaanland opens 'smallest haunted house in the world' in train station

Train passengers today get a taste of a Halloween haunted house in Bobbejaanland. In Antwerp Central Station you can temporarily find the 'smallest haunted house in the world', a promotional stunt for the new haunted house Yummy in the Flemish amusement park.

17.  Europa-Park honors over 150 long-standing employees in 2019 with 2,300 years of professional experience

Europa-Park has honored over 150 anniversaries and 23 retirees for a long-term service. Together, the anniversaries bring in 2,300 years of professional experience.
 

18.  PHOTOS - First phase of Epcot's new entrance area now open

The first phase of the new Epcot arrival experience is now open to guests.
 

1.  Edge outdoor observation deck to open March 2020 in New York City

Starting today, Oct. 24, New Yorkers and visitors from around the world can purchase tickets to this new experience at the top of the city skyline. Resting at a record-setting height of 1,131 feet, Edge will offer views of New York City, Western New Jersey and New York State up to 80 miles. The Edge observation deck extends 80 feet out from the 100th floor of 30 Hudson yards, includes a 7,500-square-foot outdoor viewing area and is surrounded by 79 glass panels.

2.  £20m Silverstone Experience finally opens doors

The Silverstone Experience, a £20m (US$25.7m, €23.1m) attraction that hopes to inspire a new generation of motor racing engineers, has opened at the famous Northamptonshire racing circuit.  Set inside a refurbished RAF hangar (Silverstone was originally a World War Two airfield), the new museum will be home to the archives of the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC), including items from the 1940s, as well as more recent Formula One memorabilia.

3.  Charleston breaks ground on International African American Museum | WATCH

A groundbreaking ceremony for the International African American Museum (IAAM) is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday in Charleston, South Carolina.  The theme for the occasion is “Illuminating the African American Journey.” The event will take place at 10 Wharfside Street in Charleston. The program will last approximately 90 minutes.

4.  Cineplex opens new Saskatoon theatre complex at suburban Centre Mall

The movie-going experience in Saskatoon now includes soft-serve ice cream, reclining seats and a playful theatre designed for families with young children.  The new seven-screen, 30,000-square-foot Cineplex Cinemas complex at the Centre Mall opens Friday.

5.  TEEG’s Timezone Opens 20th Play ‘N’ Learn Center In Chenai, India

SINGAPORE — The Entertainment and Education Group’s Timezone Play ‘N’ Learn has opened its doors of its first center in the city of Chennai, in southern India. The chain has locations across Indonesia, India, Philippines and Vietnam; the Chennai addition brings the total number of Play ‘N’ Learn venues to 20.

6.  Kids' Trampoline Injuries Take Another Bounce Upwards

Trampolines aren't just for backyards anymore, and the rise in commercial trampoline parks may be sparking a rise in kids' injuries, a new report finds.  "While trampolines are a great source of fun and exercise for children, the potential for injury, particularly in recreational areas with an underlying business incentive, needs to be recognized," stressed study author Dr. Nancy Hadley Miller.

7.  Urban Air Adventure Park- Katy slated to open in November

After a series of setbacks and delayed openings, the highly anticipated opening of the new Urban Air Adventure Park in Katy is scheduled for a date in late-November. The park, located at 25307 Kingsland Blvd., has a tentative start date of Nov. 22.  The Katy location will feature 16 unique attractions, including indoor skydiving, the only one of its kind in the Houston-area Urban Air parks.

8.  PHOTOS: Topgolf Swing Suite tees up uptown location

Topgolf Swing Suite will debut in Charlotte’s uptown by the end of the month.  The concept is a spinoff of the popular entertainment and event venue — albeit on a much smaller scale. The Swing Suite model caters to an urban market occupying a smaller footprint. Patrons tee up for the Topgolf experience via simulators.

9.  Let’s Get Small: SORATO Rover Joins the National Air and Space Museum

There are thousands of objects in the National Air and Space Museum, and many of them are bears to move around, as the Museum’s ongoing seven-year renovation effort has demonstrated.

10.  Museum dedicated to Slime gets stuck in New York City

In something that could have been inspired by "Ghostbusters 2," New York City is getting covered with slime.  A hands-on museum honoring everything that deals with slime opens Friday in the Big (slimy) Apple. It's called Sloomoo Institute. The name comes from the tradition of replacing vowels in name with oo so slime becomes sloomoo, The Associated Press reported.

1.  New £25m inland surfing attraction is opening in the UK this weekend with more than 1,000 waves per hour

A NEW inland surfing attraction that creates nearly 1,000 waves an hour is to open this weekend in Bristol.  The Wave's new 590ft (180m) surfing lake offers coaching for both seasoned surfers as well as beginners.

2.  Splash City Nearing Completion of Red Hills Widening, Says Jim Mayoros

PRNewswire/ -- Jim Mayoros, the creator of Southern Utah's Splash City Adventure Park, says construction is back on track after some unexpected delays were experienced while completing the widening of the Red Hills area.  The water park, which officially broke ground last month, had been progressing according to schedule until discovering a number of old sewer and gas lines that needed to be addressed before continuing construction.

3.  Parrot Island Water Park Looking To Increase Entry Fee

River Valley residents may have to pay more come next summer to get into a local water park.  Fort Smith City directors and the Sebastian County Quorum Court met Thursday (Oct. 24) to discuss a $3 increase to the daily entry fee of Parrot Island.  Management of the park says the increase is needed to cover the new minimum wage paid to some park employees.

4.  Great Wolf executive praises effort to bring $200 million resort to Cecil County

An executive with Great Wolf Lodge said a cooperative effort by state, town and county contributed to a decision to build a family resort in Perryville.  It was announced earlier that the $200 million, 500-room property is slated for competition at the end of 2021, with construction getting underway in 2020.

5.  Costa del Sol to open huge £515m attraction with eight themed neighbourhoods, a beach club and even a circus

The £515m attraction will open in the Spanish region in 2023, with building to begin next year.  The development plans will include the different neighbourhoods alongside 250,000 sqm of parks and gardens.  Two hotels and 70 restaurants are also included in the plans, along with 20 leisure attractions such as a wave pool, aquarium and climbing area as well as a concert and circus venue.  A Ferris wheel and a beach club will be part of the attraction, hoping to entice 30 million visitors a year.

1.  Friday ribbon-cutting for new exhibits at Marshfield zoo

It'll be the long-awaited ribbon-cutting for the new Welcome Center and Cougar Exhibit at the Wildwood Park and Zoo in Marshfield at 1:00 Friday afternoon.

2.  SEDGWICK COUNTY ZOO UNVEILS NEW LOGO 

The Sedgwick County Zoo is showing off its new logo.  As part of the zoo’s Strategic Master Plan, the new logo was created to better promote the zoo and its identity.

3.  Lion enclosure in Limburg animal park sabotaged: 'Bizarre incident'

The Mondo Verde animal and amusement park in Limburg has been shocked by a disturbing incident. Strangers sabotaged the lion enclosure at night. They cut two fencing in the night from Saturday to Sunday, possibly hoping that the lions could escape. The park was very shocked by the incident.

4.  Denver Zoo Closes Bird World, But Its Legacy of Conservation Lives On

About two years before the doors to the Denver Zoo’s Bird World were shuttered for good, a former keeper took me for a tour. John Turner worked with Bird World for 22 years—half of the building’s life. When the exhibit opened in 1975, it was state-of-the-art, boasting five heating and cooling systems and natural habitats. But even before Turner retired, over 10 years ago, the facility was failing. He remembers stashing a collection of tools (wire, string, thread, electrical tape, etc.) to fix odd things around the building.

5.  Toronto Zoo’s $6 million orangutan conservation plan

A $6 million renovation at the Toronto Zoo is intended to give six Sumatran orangutans more outdoor access, but it’s also part of a larger conservation effort. Pam Seatle with how the zoo is working to protect the endangered species.

6.  Zoo gets grant for environmental stewardship

The NC Zoo has announced it has been awarded an Environmental Stewardship grant from Oliver Rubber through Michelin North America for its Environmental Education Programs.  The zoo received the $9,300 grant via Oliver Rubber Company from the Michelin North American Environmental Stewardship Grant program.

7.  Zoo Offers Eco-Friendly Way to Eliminate E-waste

The combined weight of the Indianapolis Zoo’s six African elephants and three southern white rhinos is only slightly more than 58,000 pounds — the same amount of old electronics and other recyclable materials collected at the Zoo this spring.  The Zoo will offer a second opportunity for Indianapolis-area residents to eliminate their e-waste in an environmentally friendly way during the fall Power Recycling Day presented by Technology Recyclers, an R2 certified recycler and Indiana veteran owned company.

8.  Last day of season for John Ball Zoo set for Nov. 3

The last day of the season for John Ball Zoo is almost here.  Visitors will get their last chance to see the red pandas, lions, tigers and everyone else at the zoo on Nov. 3.  This year’s last day is about a month earlier than usual because of a construction project slated to begin next month. The project includes a new entry path, restrooms, concession stand and the start of work to bring new animals to the zoo.

9.  BREC searching for new zoo veterinarian

BATON ROUGE – As the city-parish park system plans to move forward with a redeveloped zoo, it’s also looking to hire a site-specific veterinarian after the doctor who has worked on contract at the zoo for 40 years retires.
 

10.  Oregon Coast Aquarium Provides Home to Marine Life Left Behind, Seeks Update

Two major developments are taking place at Newport’s Oregon Coast Aquarium, as it looks to an expansion / update and offers up a home for wayward marine life left over from the closure of another aquarium facility.

1.  American Dream mall opening: Parking cost, Nickelodeon Universe tickets, stores, hours, directions

American Dream mall and Nickelodeon Universe received a last-minute temporary certificate of occupancy and will open its doors to the public at 10 a.m. Friday after 17 years of anticipation.

3.  Do you dare? Terrifying haunted house that requires you to bring a doctor's note and sign a 40-page waiver before entering has NEVER been completed, even though there's a $20,000 reward for finishing the 10-HOUR ordeal

A Tennessee haunted house is so horrifically scary that visitors have to pass several tests and sign a 40-page waver before being let inside — and no one has ever completed the whole experience.  McKamey Manor in Summertown, Tennessee has been billed as the scariest haunted house in the US.
