We're sending you into the weekend with recommendations for how to prep for your NewsMatch kickoff. Now and moving forward, we break the campaign down for you step by step. So if looking ahead to December is too much, stick with us and we'll go through it together.

NEW: Analytics How-To Guide
 
Just in time for NewsMatch, INN has published a how-to guide for using Google Analytics in your year-end campaign.
 
The guide gives you a clear roadmap to thinking through what information you need, how to develop the tracking tools to measure performance against those targets, and how to evaluate and adjust based on the data. It is written for non-technical readers.

And INN Labs specialists are available to answer any questions you have during office hours!
NEXT WEEK: NewsMatch Promo Video

On Nov. 1, we will premiere the campaign video for this year’s NewsMatch and invite you to cross-post it on your social media and other channels with a link to donate.

Optional: To become a crossposting partner of the NewsMatch Facebook page (which allows you to see the total views from all newsroom pages that share the video), follow these steps:

1. As an admin, click Settings at the top of your Page
2. Click Crossposting in the left column, type in NewsMatch, and select it
3. Select your crossposting preferences on the pop-up window and click Next
4. We'll receive a notification and approve access!

It's time to kick the campaign off with a bang! The first email embodies this year's campaign theme, "This News Can't Wait." It's our suggested subject line and we try to convey a sense of urgency and demonstrate what makes nonprofit journalism distinct and important. 

From now - Oct. 31: Get prepared and organized 
Take advantage of these final days to customize your pitch, load up your ads and schedule your social media posts. 

Customize your appeal
If you use the MailChimp template, be sure to swap out the News Revenue Hub's logo with your own and link back to your donation page. Use merge tags to fill in the "First Name" fields and tailor the text to fit your own mission and campaign goals. Here's the HTML template and copy if you want to build your own campaign. 

TIP: Resist the urge to link to anything other than your donate page. 

Schedule your social media posts
Check out our sample posts at the end of this document. Have fun with the social media ads and feel free to customize them in Canva or Illustrator. Remember to tag NewsMatch on Twitter and Facebook and use our hashtags #NewsMatch and #ThisNewsCantWait. 

If you have time... 
Segment your audience and tweak the appeal. For example, send the pitch to: 

Existing donors: Acknowledge their existing support and ask them to go above and beyond. 
One-time donors: Ask them to convert to a monthly membership and capture the full year's match up front. 
Lapsed donors: Remind them that they supported you in the past and ask them to renew their commitment. 
Major donors: Have your Executive Director send a personal appeal.
