On October 23rd, Startup Canada travelled to Toronto to host the Startup Canada Awards Grand Finale to announce the National winners from across the country. Emceed by Catherine Clark, the ceremony was a blessed by Elder Claudette Commanda and convened hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, and family and friends who shared a toast with the winners. Closing remarks were delivered by the Honorable Victor Fedeli, Hon. Minister of Economic Development, who gave a heartfelt speech and shared his vision for Canadian entrepreneurs.
We also celebrated the four Ernest C. Manning Innovation Awards winners as well as the big announcement: Startup Canada, through its charitable sister organization, the Innovators and Entrepreneurs Foundation (IEF), has assumed management of the Manning Foundation and its awards program to bring forward the Canada Awards for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CANIEs), the inaugural flagship program of the IEF. Nominations will open on November 1st and will close on February 1st 2020.
Lastly, we also announced the four recipients of the 2019 Women Founder's Fund.
