Rain or shine, God's always at work

With a few dry days, the month started great with time to install roofing at church to protect areas from more water damage from the rain. It was also an ideal window to move dirt for the well-drilling trucks. Then, the rains came and kept coming.

Guatemala has been experiencing a significant amount of rain. It is the height of the rainy season and with the rain comes landslides, rockslides, sinkholes, and a lot of flooding. But as in our own lives, storms come and go. We can have peace during the storm knowing that Jesus gave us eternal life. The storms will end, and the morning will be glorious. Jesus never said that our lives would not have storms. Jesus went through many storms in life. He used storms in his parables, and He told us we endure the things he did if we were to be His followers. So, we find joy in the midst of the storms, because Jesus is there with us.

The rains have impacted almost every aspect of daily life here in Guatemala, much like snow does in the north. However, it is not unexpected…in fact, it is normal. It has been a little tougher to get construction ministry accomplished with Sharing His Plan. At the moment, Sharing His Plan is trying to install a well (700 feet deep) but the site is too muddy to get the trucks in place. But we know the rain won’t last forever. The rains have canceled and postponed many of the kid’s athletic activities and make getting around town feel like you are navigating the seven seas. Power outages are nearly a daily occurrence. But we have joy in all the rain.
