Real Engineering, Real Science, Pretend Mars:
Consider the challenges of conducting ‘analog’ research to prepare for human exploration of Mars. Based on experience and expertise from actual Mars robotic missions, what issues do we need to consider when developing ‘concepts of operations’ for planetary science and engineering research and discovery? Where do we find ‘pretend Mars’ without going to Mars?

Meadows on the Way to Mars:
This presentation addresses social, cultural, and technical factors that will influence future human spaceflight missions. A fictional Mars expedition vignette highlights how a future Mars expedition may be tied to societal challenges and research priorities on Earth. By considering the role of the arts in spaceflight, should we be adding an “A” to STEM, or considering a different model of TEAMS participation?
