Hello friends,
I haven’t written since August last year and the reason is that I haven't known what to say. Frankly, I still don’t want to believe it...
My husband passed away unexpectedly in September 2018. And everything in my life that seemed important up to that point?
It paled into insignificance.
I’ve spent the past year grappling with the need to accept a new life I didn’t ask for and didn’t want. As a young widow, an only parent, a sole breadwinner. Concerned with ensuring our four year old daughter was safe and keeping a roof over our heads.
It has been a challenging year. A year in which I’ve encountered many bewildering situations. Where my heart has been crushed and stretched in more ways than I thought possible. I don't think I could ever be grateful for the loss of my husband. But I am grateful for the opportunity for personal growth it has given me. I have become a stronger, more gentle, more grateful, more compassionate person.
Through most of the past year I’ve been unsure if I had the desire, much less the drive, to keep Green Foot Mama alive. But suddenly losing someone you love really brings your priorities into focus.
And now, it's been a little over a year since my husband passed away. And I feel like the things that matter to Green Foot Mama are more important to share than ever:
- caring for our families naturally
- simplifying our lives to allow us the time and energy to focus on what is truly important
- making informed choices, and using these choices to shape the world we want to live in
- leaving a greener footprint and protecting our environment for the future of our planet. The future of our children
So that is what I will be spending my time and energy on in the future. I’m excited about re-connecting with all of you - the other Green Foot Mamas in the world who share these goals - and working on them together…
I plan to send a couple of emails a month. And start writing blog posts again. I'd love to introduce you to small businesses run by other Green Foot Mamas making a difference in Australia and the world. Let me know if there is anyone you'd like me to profile or any topics you'd like to learn more about.
I will also continue to build our community on Instagram and Facebook. Please join me there and share what being a Green Foot Mama looks like for you...
Until next time,
Lisa. x
P.S. Could you do me a favour and take a couple of minutes to leave a review on Google or Facebook? Because online reviews mean a lot to a small business. And it will help other people decide if Green Foot Mama is right for them. Thanks, I really appreciate it. x
