SKW'UNE-WAS INDIGENOUS CULTURAL IMMERSION PROGRAM - Next week, our 4th Grade students will be taking part in an overnight Skw’une-was Indigenous Cultural Immersion Program. Highlights of the program include living in and around an authentic Coast Salish longhouse with the Ch’iyákmesh people of Skwxwú7mesh Nation; learning some Skwxwú7mesh Nation language, legends, crafts, food gathering, fishing and hunting techniques; and experiencing a traditional naming ceremony, cooking with hot rocks, singing and drumming.
HALLOWEEN - Please be sure to check with your Class Teacher regarding costumes and Halloween festivities as each class is different. In general, homemade costumes are preferred. Please no face paint, masks, gore, guns, or sparkly makeup, however, sparkles on costumes are okay. Please avoid any caricatures of cultures.
PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS - As noted in the email from the College of Teachers on October 20, Grade School interviews will be held between now and March 20 which marks the end of the Winter Term. Kindergarten and High School Parent/Teacher interviews will continue as usual during the November Break.
COMMUNITY CHOIR - Inviting all eager singers (age 18+) to join Fa la la Lorna Fortin in preparing songs to present at the Children's Winter Fair on November 23 and at the Fairytale Performance / Waldorf100 Celebration on November 28.
