Ikea's Christmas Tree Deal:

Ikea recently announced that it is running the annual Christmas tree offer from 21st November to 24th December 2019.

Ikea will gift all customers a £20 voucher when they buy a real fir tree in-store for £29 – in effect, you get the tree for just £9.

The £20 voucher will be redeemable against a range of Ikea homewares from 13th January to 23rd February 2020.

Top Tips for ALL Gadget Users:

The Helpful Book Company has agreed to write a series of Top Tips for our news blog. The first post was launched today with a very important piece of advice for all PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone etc users. Make sure you read the article!
A Helpful Book Review:

Sheila, one of our Club goers, has read a few of The Helpful Book Company's books and offered a general review:

"The books are written in simple plain English. You follow the steps and it is so easy to do. I tried other books when I first started with my computer and frankly they were too complicated.

If you are really new to computers then it would be a good idea to get the list of books and start at the beginning.  They are sent on sale or return with no obligation, you only send payment if you decide to keep them.

What I really like is this company and Tap into It have the same aim, that is to help we older folk to get started with technology".
City Cabs Assist Card:

Ann, from our St Alban's Road Computer Club, thought that the City Cabs Assist Card may be of interest.

It is a discount / loyalty card that over 65's, who have mobility issues (no evidence required), can obtain free of charge by applying to City Cabs.

A sliding scale discount, based on mileage, is given every time you use a City Cab.

The application form can be obtained by calling the company on 0131 228 121, but please note that there is a waiting list.   When applying, you will need to send the completed form with a passport photo.
Care & Repair:

Ann also thought that the Care Repair service may be of interest, she has used them and highly recommends them.

There are various paid services available but the handyperson service is free.

Care Repair ask only that you cover the cost of any materials required for the repair work.

If you can afford a donation to help cover their volunteer travel expenses, then that would be appreciated too.

For more information, check out https://www.cre.scot or give them a call on 0131 337 1111.
Severely Mentally Impaired Council Tax Refund:

This link to the Money Saving Expert website explains who is eligible and what you need to know about SMI Council Tax Refunds.

It is worth a read if your partner suffers from dementia, Parkinson's or has had a stroke etc.
Amazon Smile:

smile.amazon.co.uk is operated by and offers the same products, prices and shopping features as Amazon.co.uk.

The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the company will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) to your favourite charity.

If you are shopping on Amazon this Christmas, then why not go to smile.amazon.co.uk. Login in as normal and then go to your account settings and select a charity of your choice.

Charities include Tap into IT!

Happy Shopping 🎁 and please remember us!
