Opportunities for the Month...

The men’s group, Society of the Sons of God (SoSoGo), will be having two work days this Saturday (10/26/19) and next Saturday (11/2/19) to try to get our storage areas re-arranged before the Geneva Green Market starts up again.  They will not be making breakfast, they will be serving coffee, donuts and bagels, and the work will only take 60 to 90 minutes.  Everyone is welcome to come help.  Meet in Fellowship Hall at 8:30am.
Our Survey of the Bible Class meets will be taking the month of August off since so many participants are on vacation, so the next class will be on on Sunday, November 17th, from 11:30am until 12:30pm, in the nursery area.  Becca will be discussing the book of Genesis.  Notes from the last class (10-20-19) are available here.
Our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, to support the families of Tri-City Family Services, began last Sunday.  If you did not get a chance to take a tag for the food drive and would like to, please email Lynnly and she will get on to you.  All donations need to be brought into church by Sunday, November 10.  If you can't make it to church and need a pick up, please call or email Lynnly.  Donations can be left in the bins in the hallway outside the Mayflower Room.  Our Christmas Food Drive will begin on December 1st (with donations due in to church on December 15th), and our Angel Tags (in which we donate gifts for needy children) will be available November 17th (with donations due back on December 8th.  Does that sound confusing?  Let me put it in chronological order...

Oct 20   Thanksgiving Food Drive Tags available
Nov 10   Thanksgiving food donations due at church
Nov 17   Angel tags available
Dec 1    Christmas food drive tags available
Dec 8  Angel Tag items due back at church
Dec 15 Christmas food drive donations due at church

Hopefully that makes everything more clear!
We will be updating our church directory this year! Yay!  We have scheduled a photo shoot date that we hope works for everyone, including families with college students away at school.  We will be doing pictures on Saturday, December 21st.  The time slots will probably start at 10am and run until 4pm.  I'm guessing they will be sending two photographers, so that we can do more than one family at a time.  I'll send more information about signing up for a time slot as soon as I have it, but please mark your calendar for that date.  Each family being photographed will receive a free 8x10 of their family.  Additionally, if you have friends or family members that don't belong to the church but would like to get a professional family portrait done (or updated), they are welcome to sign up as well, and they will also receive a free 8x10 of their family.  We will have cards that you can hand out to any friends and family you think might want to get a picture taken, more on that later as well.  Our new directory will be available in both a printed format, and an app for your phone or desktop computer, which makes accessing directory info very convenient.  Watch your newsletters and bulletins for additional information as it becomes available.
The Stewardship Drive began on Sunday, October 13th with a Stewardship sponsored Pot Luck Lunch after church.  The drive will continue through Sunday, November 3rd, at which time the Stewardship Board will host a 'Thank You' Luncheon, (you don't need to bring a thing).  The 'Thank You' lunch will be held in Fellowship Hall immediately after services, and THANK YOU in advance for participating in our drive.  It takes all of us to keep our ship afloat.
