Next Year's Membership Fees

On Wednesday, October 23rd, the National Council of the Boy scouts of America announced the increase in registration fees. The increases apply to youth and adult registration fees, and the annual unit liability and insurance charter fee. The Spirit of Adventure Council is NOT increasing the $30 Adventure Card fee.

The fee increases go into effect on January 1st, 2020. They will be collected as part of the annual charter renewal process, which is underway. For more information on the national BSA increase, you can read more in the email that we sent on Wednesday.

For Packs:
The fees for the charter are as follows:

  • $60/youth registration fee
  • $30/Adventure Card
  • $12/Boys Life (optional)
  • $36/adult registration fee
  • $60 Charter Liability Insurance Fee

For Troops & Crews:
The fees for the charter are as follows:

  • $60/youth registration fee
  • $30/Adventure Card (optional)
  • $12/Boys Life (optional)
  • $36/adult registration fee
  • $60 Charter Liability Insurance Fee

For Explorer Posts & Clubs:
The fees for the charter are as follows:

  • $36/youth registration fee
  • $30/Adventure Card (optional)
  • $36/adult registration fee
  • $60 Charter Liability Insurance Fee
All youth and adult members that join during 2019 will still only be charged a pro-rated amount of $2.75 per month for each registration through December 31st 2019.
 
Winter Camp, Merit Badges, Trainings and More Open on Halloween

Save some time while munching on candy on Halloween to sign up for programs in the Winter and Spring! 

Troops and older Scouts:
T.L. Storer's inaugural Winter Camping Weekends in January, February and March as well as T.L. Storer Winter Camp during February Vacation.

New England Base Camp is running two day camps over February Vacation: Winter Camp with Merit Badge Programs & BSA Lifeguard Training!

Those taking the Lifeguard Training and any others who are interested can sign up for Red Cross CPR Certification! 


During April Vacation, Scouts can earn merit badges at STEM Camp at either New England Base Camp in Milton or Base Camp Express in Woburn.

Merit Badge Programs- including Eagle-required badges - at Base Camp Express & New England base Camp for Winter and Spring will open on Halloween as well! Several will sell out quickly, so make sure you sign up fast!

Packs and Cub Scouts:

"Parents' Night Out" is a Drop-off program for kids, so that parents can go out on a Friday night! Sign up for program at either Base Camp Express in Woburn or New England Base Camp in Milton on December 6th from 5:00- 8:00pm. 

New England Base Camp is running day camps over February Vacation, Winter Camp, and April Vacation, STEM Camp where Cubs can explore and work on advancements!

Boston College Football Scout Day

The Spirit of Adventure Council is partnering with Boston College for a very special fun day of football!
Scouts are invited to BC Football Scout Day for a game on Saturday, November 9th! 

All Scouts will get a special BC football patch and opportunities to work on requirements that would satisfy Cub and Scouts BSA advancement! They will also have the chance to walk on the field, presenting the flag, and buddy-up with the players for the anthem. Tickets will be mailed 10 days prior to event. Any registrations after that, tickets will be available at Base Camp in Milton.

Congratulations to local our Hornaday Award Recipient! 

Eagle Scout, Corban Walsh, from Troop 55 Billerica has been awarded the Boy Scouts of America Hornaday Silver Medal!

This environmental education and service award is extraordinarily rare, as only about a dozen are awarded each year. Scouts must earn nine merit badges in the area of environmental conservation and carry out four significant projects. Corban's project has was reviewed by a national committee. 
Corban is currently at the University of Alabama studying Aerospace Engineering. Congratulations, Corban!
