Welcome to Citified, the monthly newsletter by the Lagos Urban Development Initiative. We are passionate about how we as citizens can live in a Lagos we love, and to make this happen we must ensure that we have a voice when decisions are being made about our communities, our neighborhoods, and our city.

This month we are focusing on Housing in Lagos. The housing shortage in the city is acute. Let's say Lagos is made up of 20 million people, estimates say the number of people living in slums and informal settlements ranges from 6.6 million people to 14 million people. The higher range would be the 75th most populated country on the planet.

This month's newsletter will discuss the current state of housing in the city, and what the future could hold.

Our speaker is Dr. Lindsay Sawyer, an urban researcher who uses comparative methods to study urbanization in Lagos from the ground upwards. Food and refreshments are always served!
