Habit of the Month November:  Put First Things First
Each month our school will have one "habit of the month" that will be highlighted across all our grades.  October's habit is Put First Things First:  I spend my time on things that are most important.  THis means I say no to things I know I should not do.  I set priorities, make a schedule, and follow my plan.  I am disciplined and organized.

Weekly Activity to Support Habit:  Put First Things First: Start with what is most important so that you can ensure to accomplish all your Big Rocks!

#NameThatHashTag
We are asking our LP Community to brainstorm ideas for a hashtag for our school. We are looking for a unique hashtag that is catchy, clever, easy to remember, and shows school pride/loyalty.

Examples:
#WeAreLutzPrep
#LutzPrepProud
All suggestions should include the school name "Lutz Prep".

Please click on the following link to submit your creative ideas (up to 8 suggestions per form). Deadline extended to Sunday at midnight!

Character Book Parade
Children in PreK-3rd grade will participate in this year’s Character Book Parade on Thursday, October 31st at 8:45am
  • PreK-2nd = Character Book
  • 3rd = Vocabulary Word ** please see the information sent home from 3rd gr teachers for more details

Please have your child arrive to school in his/her costume with his/her uniform underneath. Every child from Pre-K – 2nd grade should carry the book from which the character has been chosen.  Parents, please make sure the character and costume are school appropriate (i.e. no guns, knives, swords, masks, etc.).

All students participating in the parade will exit the south end of the main building and will make two circles around the perimeter of the grass field outside of the main cafeteria/south side of school before exiting towards the back of the Pre-Prep building.

Parents who wish to see their child/children participate in the parade and/or take pictures may stand outside the carline fence (signs will be posted to help direct you). All costumes will be removed after the parade and uniforms will be worn for the rest of the day.

Box Top Collection Season is Underway!
We feel like we had a pretty successful year last school year so let’s do the same again!  We will have an ongoing collection again this year and at the end of every month, classes who have achieved their monthly collection goal of 300 Box Tops will win their class monthly incentive.

Our school collection goal for this year is $3,000 but we would love to surpass this goal!

Mailboxes are still located in the Pre-Prep lobby and the Charter lobby to allow for submissions.  All submissions should be in either envelopes or baggies and labeled with your child's name and homeroom teacher name or on collection sheets that are available to you online that you can print and attach Box Top labels to prior to turning them in to the mailboxes.

All Box Top submissions will be accounted for monthly and credit is given to the homerooms!  All the Box Tops collected will be redeemed for cash that will be awarded back to each homeroom class at the end of the school year!

Red Ribbon Week

Hillsborough County Public Schools CEO at our Schools
In a first of its kind program, local senior executives and CEOs teamed up with the “CEO” at our schools – the principal – to see, hear and do the things that our Hillsborough County public school teachers, staff, and students experience every day.

On October 18, 2019, CEOs from major local companies and agencies volunteered for an entire day at each of our HCPS elementary schools. The CEOs gained a new perspective on what it takes to prepare students for life. These local business and community leaders saw first hand how their knowledge in business can help students and our schools achieve their goals for success.
