Final Report: Barley Varieties for Craft Brewing, Distilling 


WSU Extension in Thurston County completed the final report for barley variety evaluation for local craft brewing and distilling. Final report through WSU CSANR is here. And and information on regional specialty grain market development are available here.

Drought Tolerant Cropping Systems Workshop, 11/3 6pm

Thurston Ag Committee Seeks New Members

Focus on Farming—titled “Nurturing your future”—participants will find an exciting mix of topics, ideas, and speakers focused on helping expand the opportunities, sustainability, and economic viability of the region’s farms and forestlands. Irrigation Efficiencies and Systems Workshop

Saturday, Nov. 2nd, 2-4 pm. Helsing Junction Farm, Independence Valley. Come learn about irrigation efficiencies programs and irrigation system set up. Representatives from the WA State Conservation Commission & Helsing Junction Farm will share their experiences & recommendations. See more here

Crop Costing for Cut Flowers Workshop

Come learn how to: Use time studies to capture information about labor requirements of different flower crops; Learn what worked for other farmers to create good recordkeeping habits; Use cost information to inform business decisions aimed at improving whole farm profitability; Create a plan to help you be successful with your recordkeeping during the 2020 season.
