With the most if not all of Sausalito's residents now expected to lose power on Saturday, October 26, the City of Sausalito has compiled the following list community resources during the shutoff:
Charging Stations
Sausalito City Hall at 420 Litho Street will operate under generator power during the shutoff. The lower level of City Hall will be open for device charging from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. beginning on Sunday, October 27.
The Sausalito Library in City Hall will be open as a charging station from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. for the duration of the shutoff, including Saturday night. It is unknown at this time whether the library's internet access will be affected. Questions about services at the library may be directed to (415) 289-4121.
PG&E plans to establish a service center at Marin City with a charging station and water. During the last power shutoff, the service center was in the parking lot of the Marin Gateway Shopping Center at 180 Donahue Street. Hours will begin Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Groceries
According to the Chamber of Commerce, the following local markets will remain open under generator power during the power shutoff:
- Driver's Market, 200 Caledonia Street
- Mollie Stone's, 100 Harbor Drive
Questions and Concerns
Any questions or concerns about health and safety during the power shutoff may be directed to the Sausalito Police Department at (415) 289-4170. The police department is located at 29 Caledonia Street.
Other Notes and Resources
Once power shutoffs begin, areas without electricity will show on the PG&E outage map.
Traffic lights in Sausalito will not function during the power shutoff. Drivers should treat an inoperable traffic light as a 4-way stop sign.
The Marin Municipal Water District asks all customers to suspend irrigation and restrict water use to indoors only for the duration of the power shutoff. MMWD relies on electric power to treat and distribute water. By curtailing water use during a shutoff, you can help ensure more water is available for essential uses such as firefighting.
