Who is in control?
Recently I have found myself drifting towards relying on my own strength rather than trusting in the Lord's power and provision in my life. I've experienced a lot of success this school year, but my role as the high school principal has taught me that my own strength is not sufficient. I'm humbled by the hard work of the staff around me and their willingness to serve the students of ICSB so faithfully. I have learned that even with a great staff there are things that are only possible with God's help. The job of an administrator involves planning ahead and at times I find myself worrying or stressing about the future even though I know that God has a plan already in place.
I am encouraged by John 15:5-8:
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
