Power Shutoff Update for Sausalito

The power is currently off throughout Sausalito as part of a widespread PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff.

As of Saturday night, PG&E was estimating an "all clear" time for Marin County of 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28. PG&E has a target of 48 hours for full restoration, which could mean that Sausalito will be without power until Wednesday morning. All power lines must be inspected before they can be re-energized. PG&E emphasizes that conditions could change, leading to a longer power outage.

Sausalito City Hall at 420 Litho Street is operating under generator power, but we are currently unable to update the City website due to the failure of an air conditioning unit in the server room. The City phone system is also offline, as is the elevator.

Two charging stations are available in Sausalito City Hall at 420 Litho Street:
  • The Sausalito Library will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. for the duration of the shutoff. As of 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, the library Wi-Fi network is working, but the wired computer stations are offline. Wi-Fi is slow due to a large number of users.
  • The lower level of City Hall will be open for device charging from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the shutoff.
PG&E has also set up a service center at the Marin City Health and Wellness Center at 630 Drake Avenue. The hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the duration of the power outage. Services offered include device charging, water, and snacks.

For groceries, Driver's Market had trouble with its generator this morning, but is now reported to be fully operational. Mollie Stone's is also open under generator power. Driver's Market is located at 200 Caledonia Street. Mollie Stone's is at 100 Harbor Drive.

The Bay Area remains under a Wind Advisory and a Red Flag Warning. The National Weather Service says, "The offshore wind event featuring strong and dangerous winds and critically low humidity will continue to impact the area through Monday morning. This event may be the strongest since the 2017 wine country fires and potentially a historic event given the strength and duration of the winds.

Tens of thousands of Sonoma residents are under evacuation orders due to the Kincade Fire. Status updates on wildfires burning in California may be found on the incident map from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

When possible, additional updates will be posted to the City of Sausalito's Power Shutoff Updates webpage.
