Mordecai Traffic and Communications Update: Wake Forest Road (WFR) Closure and Detour


We've been in regular contact with the corridor project and Public Utilities project managers, and would like to report that utilities repair work is on schedule and projected to conclude on October 30, 2019. Unless weather or some other unforeseen complication arises, Wake Forest Road will be reopened for all traffic on this date and the detour routes will no longer be in force or applicable. WFR will be monitored for approximately one week to make sure that the utilities work completed was successful and before moving forward with repaving.

In the meantime, the businesses on North Person Street continue to be open for regular business and accessible past the "No Thru Traffic" barriers. Please continue to use the detour routes until WFR road is reopened next week and continue remain vigilant and drive safely through the surrounding neighborhoods.
