More to play for.....

Those of us who make up the working party associated with the running of the All Girls Cricket Competition are always open to ideas from our community. Unfortunately we cannot always make them a reality even though we would desperately like to.
In this case, Andrew Gee (one of our player’s dads) came to me with an idea for giving those players and teams which contribute significantly to the spirit of the AGCC but may not be in the running for the Premiership, the opportunity to play for something. He has always been impressed by those teams that play with passion and joy for the game regardless of the result.
This year, for the first time in AGCC history, we will be implementing a Cup for the 16 & Under and Stage 2 13 & Under teams for those that finish 5th to 8th on the ladder. These teams will participate in Semi-Finals and then a Final to win the Cup. We are pleased to announce the Cups have been named after two women who have been a big part of the AGCC journey.

16 & Under Libby Nicholls Cup
Libby Nicholls helped grow the All Girls Cricket Competition from day one, starting the inaugural competition from the ground up. She also volunteers at the Toorak Prahran CC. We are grateful for her time, effort and energy in creating our competition.

13 & Under (Stage 2) Annabel Sutherland Cup
Annabel Sutherland played in the AGCC and is the first of our graduates to play in the WBBL making her debut for the Melbourne Renegades at just 15 years of age before making the switch to the Melbourne Stars. She has also been part of overseas tours with the Australian under-19s. We are sure she has a bright cricketing future ahead while still remembering her days in the AGCC.

We are sure these Cups will add to the enjoyment of our players in the competition.
Too much cricket is not enough
If you have a 13 & under player who would like more cricket in their life, they are welcome to contact East Malvern Tooronga CC or Kingston Heath CC and participate in the 16 & under competition on a Sunday morning. They are keen for some extra players so please keep it in mind.
Classic reminder that the AGCC is following the Cricket Australia Junior Formats with only a couple of very small modifications.

We laminated the rules and included them with your scorebook so please make sure you are following them!

Stage 1 is a 7 a side competition with a minimum of 5 players.
Stage 2 is a 9 a side competition with a minimum of 7 players.

If you need clarification on the rules at anytime, on Wednesday nights please call Sven and on Sunday mornings please call Ros.
