President’s Newsletter: Fall - Winter 2019-2020
I can’t believe November is almost here – the time is flying by and soon the holiday season will be upon us. We are all trying to keep up so here’s a summary of DVAL happenings for November through January, 2020.
November 2019
Saturday, November 2, 2019: Winter Show Penn Med at Valley Forge
Wednesday, November 13, 2019: Internal Review Committee meets at 9:30 at Community Arts Center (CAC) in Wallingford.
Friday, November 15, 2019: Meet and Greet the Garrett Williamson Plein Air Artists at
Newtown Square Public Library, 6:30 – 8:30 pm. Pastel demo by Dee Casner.
Wednesday, November 20, 2019:
General membership meeting featuring Nanette Noone, Creative Collage, from 1 – 3 PM at Paoli Presbyterian Church.
- Jury date for Penn Med at Bala Cynwyd, two paintings per artist, fee $10.
- Jury date for Bryn Mawr, one painting per artist, size no larger than 18 x 24 including frame, fee $10, no prizes.
Monday, November 25, 2019:
Workshop with Nanette Noone, 9 – 3 pm at Paoli Presbyterian Church.
December 2019
Saturday, December 7, 2019: Pick up at
Radnor, deliver to
Bala Cynwyd, 2 Bala Plaza Suite, Bala Cynwyd.
January 2020
Saturday, January 4, 2020: Deliver to
Bryn Mawr, Bodine Lobby, 9 – 10:30 AM. This is next to the Emergency Room Entrance at 130 S. Bryn Mawr Avenue.
Sunday, January 5, 2020: Reception at Bryn Mawr, Bodine Lobby, from 4:30 – 5:30 PM.
Wednesday, January 15, 2020:
General membership meeting featuring Jan Weir, Oil Painting - Florals, from 1 - 3 PM at Paoli Presbyterian Church.
Monday, January 27, 2020:
Workshop with Jan Weir, 9 – 3 PM at Paoli Presbyterian Church.

Exhibited Paintings: We will soon be implementing an “
Exhibited Paintings” depository on our website. If you click on a specific exhibit page, say
Penn Med at VF, there will be a section of the page that will be called “Exhibited Paintings”. Dates will be listed (like Spring 2020) and when you click on a specific date, the PDF with the complete list of paintings will pop up.
Our exhibit at
Sage Restaurant, 150 Bridge Street in Phoenixville, will end on February 3, 2020. We are planning another exhibit there from February 3 – June 1, 2020. This exhibit will be juried online using
Entrythingy. Online jurying for Sage will be a limited test; will not apply to Penn Med permanent venues. FULL members may submit one painting, fee is $10, 35 paintings will be accepted. More information will be sent in an email blast once we get this set up and running.
In closing, I wish you a wonderful holiday season. This quote from Claude Monet seems appropriate for our group: ”Colour is my day-long obsession, joy and torment.” So true!!
