Dear Friends,

We are pleased to invite you to an event on 3/11, on the occasion of the visit of Dr. Sebnem Korur-Fincanci.

Sebnem is among the writers of the Istanbul Protocol - the internationally accepted manual for identification and documentation of torture. She has undertaken  to date dozens of medical-legal assessments throughout the world. She is also a founding member and the current Chairwoman of the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey.

Sebnem also happens to be a fascinating conversationalist, and this event is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand about the struggles of human rights activists in Turkey today, and about her work as a physician specializing in forensic documentation across the globe. Like other human rights activist in Turkey, she too has suffered in the last years from persecution by the authorities, including arrests, trials, and the threat of further arrest. Lately, the court in Istanbul cleared her from the charge of "supporting terror activities", following her stint as a guest editor on a Kurdish newspaper.

Please register to attend here; entry is free.
