TCV Weekly News: 1 November 2019

Kia ora koutou

Late newsletter this week. We are in-between Network Support personnel. As you know Jocelyn has been doing a great job covering the gap but is in Australia this week. We are happy to announce that from next Monday (4-Nov) TCV will be employing a permanent Network Co-ordinator. I'll let her introduce herself next week (once the paperwork is done) but I'll say that most of you will already know her and will welcome her on-board. We at TCV are very excited and looking forward to seeing a new and fresh approach to the communications of the network.

I'd like to say thank you to all of you who came to the Spring hui last week at such short notice. We had about a dozen around the table and all who came felt it was worth the effort. Spring is an innovative digital product to build financial capability that is being trialled in Tairāwhiti. Please read on for more detail.

Remember the TCV AGM is coming up on the 11 November at our next Network Meeting in the Council Chambers. Rehette Stoltz will be presenting the Nan Evans Award at 12.30 sharp and then we'll proceed to our AGM, followed by a light luncheon as per tradition. We are still accepting nominations for the Executive Committee but please do get these into us asap.

Come along and meet our new Network Co-ordinator at the AGM. I look forward to seeing you all there.

"Spring is a digital platform where people can get free help to take control of their finances and earn rewards."

The target audience for Spring is people in the Tairāwhiti region that are experiencing financial difficulties. But because this is a trial period Spring are keen for anyone in the sector to sign up, try it out and send feedback so they can make improvements.

The trail is now open and will go until the end of the year. Spring is hoping for about 450 users but won't cap it if more sign up.

Spring offers weekly activities for users that translate into Spring Coin when completed. Spring Coin can be redeemed for vouchers from Pak'nSave, The Warehouse and for fuel. Anyone who chooses to attend sessions with a qualified Financial Mentor will receive 100 Spring Coin. Financial Mentors can be found at The Salvation Army and at Gisborne Budget Moni Ora.
