House to vote on resolution establishing next steps in impeachment inquiry

• Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced on Monday that the House will vote on formalizing the impeachment inquiry of President Trump
• The resolution will lay out the guidelines for public hearings, review of deposition statements, process to send the evidence to the House Judiciary Committee and Trump’s due process rights
• The White House and congressional Republicans have condemned Democrats for not having a vote at the start of the inquiry, however, neither the Constitution nor House rules require it

Chinese 're-education camp' horrors revealed by escapee

• Sayragul Sauytbay is an Uighur Muslim who managed to escape a Chinese ‘re-education’ camp in the Xinjiang province
• She was forced to teach Chinese detainees over the course of 5 months and then released. She revealed the grueling conditions where inmates used a bucket for a toilet, were frequently raped and tortured, and were given injections that led to infertility
• Sauytbay fled to Kazakhstan when she found out that she was going to be taken back to the camp as a prisoner. She has been given asylum in Sweden

U.S. Air Force’s secret unmanned space plane lands after more than 2 years in orbit

• The USAF’s secret X-37B unmanned space plane safely returned from orbit after a record-breaking 780 days of orbiting the earth
• This is just the fifth publicly acknowledged mission for the plane, which was built by Boeing’s Phantom Works. The project is being handled by the USAF’s 45th Space Wing

North Carolina state court rules against gerrymandered map

• The court ruled that the state cannot proceed with next year’s House primaries using its current congressional map
• The ruling will temporarily set aside GOP-drawn districts, which may be a potential advantage for Democrats
• If the current map is ultimately struck down, it would be the second time in the last 10 years that North Carolina has been forced to redraw its congressional districts

Beyond Meat shares dip, despite topping earnings estimates

• On Monday, Beyond Meat reported its first quarterly profit, topping analysts’ expectations
• According to an analyst survey:
  • Earnings per share: 6 cents vs. 3 cents expected
  • Revenue: $92 million vs. $82.2 million expected
• The company’s shares still dipped by as much as 15%, before regaining approximately half of those losses

• The president and first lady were in a suite at Nationals Park, joined by other Republicans including Sen. Lindsey Graham, Rep. Steve Scalise, and Rep. Matt Gaetz
• A shot of US troops was shown on the screen and the stadium erupted in cheers before a shot of Trump was shown
• The cheers became boos, but returned to normal again when the camera cut back to the troops
