Get ready for the 2019 Northwich Christmas Extravaganza
The countdown is on to this year’s Northwich Christmas Extravaganza which comes to town on Saturday 23rd November, taking place from 12:00pm-5:30pm.
There will be festive fun at every turn with event organisers the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID), Northwich Town Council, Barons Quay, NIRA and Cheshire West and Chester Council compiling an action-packed line-up of activities and attractions for the whole family.
Crowd favourites will return such as Donkey rides, fairground rides, Birds of Prey, Christmas stilt walkers and a giant snow globe, while Santa’s Grotto, Barnton Circus, a Caricaturist and a Fun House will ensure entertainment throughout the afternoon.
On top of this there will be no shortage of yuletide spirit. The Christmas Bauble Trail will be perfect for would-be detectives and there’ll be festive treats aplenty at the Christmas Markets on Witton Street for those on the lookout for refreshments and maybe even some presents.
Attendees should also pay a visit to the Craft Village which is going to be situated outside Poundstretcher. Here there’ll be face painting, glitter tattoos, gingerbread decorating and balloon modelling; perfect for keeping the kids busy.
For the first time ever, Northwich will also have its very own Ice Rink too! It will be open on Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November giving people plenty of opportunity to take to the ice for some wintry excitement.
Following a full afternoon of Christmas fun, the event will once again culminate with the School’s Lantern Parade, Light Switch-on and firework display to bring the day to a spectacular conclusion.
More information will follow in due course on the Visit Northwich Facebook page. Make sure you like it so you don’t miss any updates!

Town celebrates achieving Makaton friendly status
Local businesses, charity groups and community members celebrated Northwich gaining Makaton Friendly Status on Thursday 3rd October at Stateside Bar and Kitchen.
In August the town was named Makaton Friendly, the first town in the North West to achieve this status. Makaton is a simpler form of sign language which was developed to help those who find it hard to communicate.
Northwich has made its services accessible to Makaton users by training over 200 people from 30 local businesses in the town.
The project was spearheaded by Cheshire Down’s Syndrome Support Group (CDSSG) and funded by the Northwich Business Improvement District (BID), Northwich Rotary Club, Vale Royal Rotary Club, Northwich Town Council and Cheshire Community Foundation.
Head to the Visit Northwich website to read the full article.
