Prime Minister Netanyahu fails to form new Israeli government

  • Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been working to negotiate the terms of the next Israeli government. He has now announced failure after being unable to secure a majority in the September election
  • Netanyahu will return the mandate to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. The President, in turn, will assign the task to Benny Gantz, one of Netanyahu’s political rivals. Gantz now has 28 days to negotiate his terms, currently he is more than a dozen seats short of a majority
More Context: Netanyahu has served as Israeli PM since 2015, making up the thirty-fourth government of Israel. Each Israeli government consists of Ministers lead by the Prime Minister and operates under a specific set of policy guidelines

Boeing faces major setbacks after 737 Max crashes

  • Due to the recent release of problematic Boeing 737 details, the company is facing several complications with monetary growth and management. Boeing's stock price has fallen 35% since the initial 737 Max crash and Wall Street analysts believe the slide may continue - wiping out $53 billion in total value
  • Additionally, because Boeing officials were aware of the 737 issues for months and did not disclose them, activist Ralph Nader says the CEO Dennis Muilenburg and the board of directors should be removed. Nader lost an extended family member in a Boeing 737 crash

TikTok deletes dozens of ISIS promotional accounts

  • The video sharing app TikTok took down a plethora of accounts that appeared to be posting pro-ISIS propaganda material on the platform
  • The video content posted by these now-defunct accounts is said to have included armed ISIS extremists, corpses of victims, and women who proclaimed jihadist pride. Many assume the videos were a method of inspiration and recruitment for fellow extremists

Wildfires ravage the Pacific Palisades in California

  • Residents in certain areas west of Los Angeles are being advised to evacuate as the fires come dangerously close to their homes
  • Beyond the safety measures that were taken, firefighters counteracted the flames by dowsing the fire with water from helicopters. This relatively smaller fire followed a far more devastating one on the northern border of Los Angeles a few weeks prior

Comic book movie “Bloodshot” releases first trailer

  • Vin Diesel (Furious 7, Guardians of the Galaxy) stars in the upcoming action film “Bloodshot” as a military combatant killed in combat and then brought back to life
  • Diesel’s character seems to possess a personal vendetta against his wife’s killer, though the trailer employs an interesting and unexpected twist that complicates the storyline
