Breast Cancer is Everyone's Story
Four years ago on my birthday, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. But I was lucky; I didn’t have to worry about how I would afford transportation to medical appointments or how I would get warm clothing for myself and my family.

During this time, I met Amy. Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer at the same hospital as I was — but there was one critical difference—Amy had to come to Mitzvah Circle to meet her basic needs. She told me, “I am going through a very tough time. I am behind on my rent. I can’t afford a warm coat, sheets for my bed, or a towel. It is just so hard. Anything would really help me.” Being sick is hard; but being sick and struggling under the weight of poverty is an impossibly difficult situation which no one should have to go through alone.
Mitzvah Circle was created to respond with compassion and love for people who are suffering—especially those struggling with illness. We provided a beautiful, warm coat for Amy and the other items she needed. We listened to Amy, we cared, and we responded by giver her the items that were critical to her recovery.
Amy told us that the best gift Mitzvah Circle gave her was the gift of hope. Hope for Amy was Mitzvah Circle cheering her on and encouraging her through her treatment when she didn’t have the strength to motivate herself.
We want every woman with breast cancer who is unable to meet their basic needs to know that we are here and cheering them on.
Thank you for your support,
