Hello, it's time for a newsletter.

Hope that you haven't been affected by the floods!

Before you read on (or before you read later as you have a million things to do), we have a massive favour to ask! Please, will you take just one minute and nominate Footprints CEC as Trent Barton's Charity of the year?
No personal details are needed; just put our name in the box and say a few words about why you nominated our charity. Our families attend from a wide geographical area taking in much of Trent Barton's service - Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, some from Leics, Northampton and Gloucester. Nominations close on 22 November, so please vote and share to get us on the shortlist initially. We must generate £200,000 per year; the cost of supporting one family is £3,300 for a year and £85 per child per session; and by being selected, the opportunity to reach many more parents is vast.
On the subject of charity of the year voting, do you know anyone who works for a local or regional company or organisation that supports charities?  If you do, please, would you ask them to mention or nominate Footprints? All the reasons why we urgently need help (and how they can get involved) are on our website
https://www.footprintscec.org/support-us/  - many thanks!

New families

Fourteen new babies/young children started attending Footprints in the past few weeks, and the team has been busy creating new groups to facilitate the families.

A few of these referrals came from 'mum bloggers' and posters on Instagram who by talking about Footprints (and 'hashtag' Conductive Education), help us reach new families. If you are on Instagram, please follow us - Footprints CEC @footprints_nottingham

As the only service in Nottingham/shire that offers formal education services to pre-school children with disabilities, we value these endorsements - word of mouth works, and we're delighted that fifty-eight families are currently benefiting from our service.

"I’ve never seen anywhere where there’s so much positivity in attitude towards what disabled children can achieve; the enthusiasm is bursting out of the walls". Visitor.

Annual survey

Thank you to the 83% of parents who were able to respond to our annual survey. Our questions focussed on three outcomes: increased movement and coordination; the ability to communicate and understand others; increased levels of engagement and levels of self-motivation. The survey outcome is shown below.

Making changes to the questions encouraged more detailed feedback, and your responses help to shape our work.

 Some parents queried:

1) When we are resuming nutritious snacks: This will happen when we return after half term.

2) Opportunities for more outdoor play: As we don't have a cover, outdoor play is weather dependent, and unfortunately, it hasn't been playing fair. One day we'll have super-duper facilities!!

3) Access to more than one session per week: We are currently unable to offer more than one session PW as there's no capacity, but we're looking at it for the future.

No better evidence of impact than an enthusiastic quote from a mum.

"If you look closely, you'll see those little feet are trying to jump on the trampoline. Conductive Education has been incredible for Nova.
@footprints_nottingham are an incredible bunch of humans. One of our Rainbows family suggested we look into CE last Christmas because it had been beneficial for her little boy 😘. I'm so, so glad we did.

Nova still has regular visits from the physio, but CE satisfies the educator in me. They've supported us with everything from learning to roll over, to eating and drinking, signing, talking, and now walking; the list is endless. We've also made some lovely friends and had loads of fun doing stuff I probably wouldn't do at home! It's been so lovely seeing Nova grow in confidence, and it's incredible to watch the team tailor the activities to suit the needs of all the children who attend. I'm thankful we found you, Footprints. Thank you"

Congratulations to our highly inspirational Patron, Richard Whitehead on his success in Dubai, earning himself a sixth @ParaAthletics World Championship medal, taking silver in the T61 200m!

Team Footprints FC take on Snowdon

Getting the little train that runs up the mountain would have been more comfortable (but they insisted on doing it the hard way), and so far the team has raised more than £1,000!

Paul Brooks, Nathan Kirk, Jonathan Cherry, Sam Harrison, Joe Hughes, Sam Ablott, Gareth Edwards, Ollie Asher, Matthew Miles, and Jake climbed Snowdon in support of Footprints (and the word is that they're looking at Ben Nevis now that they have the bug!).

Huge thanks to you all, and sponsors
NRG Fuel and Nottingham Audi.

Gleeds Treasure Hunt

The annual Gleeds Global #NottsTreasureHunt was in town on Friday 27 September, and the rain didn't dampen enthusiasm! Our Chair of Trustees, Nic Jepson, & manager, Emma-Jane, joined the breakfast get-together at Southbank City Bar on Friar Lane.

The East Midlands Construction Consultants community were fundraising for Footprints and raised £3,529! Thank you, everyone.

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2020

We were ecstatic to hear that we had secured ten charity places in the March 2020 London Landmarks Half Marathon charity ballot.  As a small charity, it's such a bonus to receive tremendous opportunities like this, helping us to raise the funds we need.

The event has 14,000 spaces, and more than 74,000 people applied, so we're delighted that our runners are stepping up to the occasion and getting lots of support!
Thank you, Fiona Wallis and Robyn Morris and Dave Taylor, just two of our LLHM team. We'll upload more names over the next few weeks.
