RISE

UNTO A NEW LIFE

Two Little Drummer Boys

by Rev. Drew Brattrud

“Bump bump bum bomp!”                 Two little hands patted the hand drum. A big smile, without any grown-up teeth beamed at his buddy next to him.                                      “How about like this?”                         “Tat, ta tat tat!” he played on his instrument.                                         Enoch and Rigo were making a joyful noise before the Lord. This pair of delighted 6 year olds was playing on-stage in our Wednesday night service. They came up uninvited and unannounced. Finding the ca-hone and djembe vacant they made themselves at home.                        “If you remain silent, the rocks will cry out,” Jesus taught (lk19:40). God will fill His house. “Have you never heard, from the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise?” (mt21:16).                   Little hands moved. Hearts were inspired, and God was pleased.

Be a Mariel

by Frank Castle

“I want to thank Mariel, even though she is not here. She is the one who invited me and I am so glad she did,” testified Destiny Washington, moments before her baptism. First there was Mariel. From Mariel came Destiny. Then, because of Destiny’s faithfulness and the example she set, her parents were led to Christ. In fact, just last week, both Shawn and Yvone received water baptism. This was their daughter’s moment. Ever grateful, she wanted to thank the friend that invited her.         Think for a moment, of the power of your invitations. Mariel not only helped lead Destiny to Christ but her parents and close friends too. Mariel may not even know the impact she is having. I’m inspired by this kind of story. I want to be like a dandelion: the wind takes those seeds everywhere and they spread and they spread and they spread.                      Destiny is one of the most consistent members of the youth group. Her love for God and kind countenance is always uplifting. She cares about others and she loves God. We are thankful for her, and await the many to come, that will give God glory thanks to her invitations.

From the Water to the Fire

by Pastor Drew

Terry Rinker is on fire! Her life is radically changing. God is getting so much glory from her. Her old life has been forsaken. The waters of baptism formed a grave upon it. She is resurrected and telling everyone she can.        For her baptism service she enlisted our US soldiers all the way in Syria. They watched as she boldly professed Jesus as Lord. No sooner did she dry off then she declared; “I’m going to tell more people about Jesus this afternoon!” she signed up for the evangelism team and has taken a step in service to the youth. “I’m good at Public Relations, I’ll be the RCA PR person!” She has done a great job. Already, in just a few days she has solicited donations and gift cards to help send youth to camp and bless our kids.                From the waters of baptism to the fire of the Spirit we are so thankful for what God is doing in a transformed life

The Lights are So Bright

by Frank Castle

You cannot tell if it is night or day when the new RCA parking lights come on. They are so bright! After having some electrical issues some of the lights needed replacing. They were all very old, some had water in them and dust coating them. Replace with them with better ones was the advice we got. Upgrade time!                          Tom Buse, a new brother at RCA was a man with a plan. Since he is a licensed contractor he knew we could improve the safety, visibility and get the cutting edge, energy efficient illumination. He and his friend Bob, ordered and installed the new LEDs and they are incredible. Our kids were playing football, basketball, and just hanging out. Cars slowed down as they watched all the activity.     Thank you to all who supported the upgrade. Know that every soul that gets won in that light, you played a part in winning.

Plugged In

by Josh Copple

You can only see the light from a lamp if it is plugged in.                                                              It’s been a few months now since I was hired as the Admin for RCA and let me tell you, it has been fun. I have gotten to know so many great people. In particular, the best part is meeting all of the new believers. They are so excited, so on fire and eager to help. I remember that time in my walk. I was going to a church that had everything. It didn’t need my help. Don’t get me wrong, they loved me and were excited for me, but they just were huge, with teams of volunteers and programs in place for everyone and everything. I want to encourage all of you reading this to think about the opportunity you have at RCA. It is a church that is growing, and eager to get you plugged in. If you can do it, we need it!                  One of the biggest tasks I’ve been working on lately is setting up teams to be in place each week. Greeters, ushers, sign holders, technical people, we need it all, and most of it is very simple to do and only has two main requirements, to be at church and to be able to smile.                                                                    If any of you out there are regular attenders and would be willing to give up a little time on Sunday or Saturday, we would love to get you plugged in. Like I said, the best part about this new job is getting to know everyone. I’m confident that you will be saying the same thing in a few weeks after you’ve spent a little time in God’s service at our little church.

Thanks George!

by Josh Copple

We want to send a special thank you out to George Marquecho. George has helped us in so many ways over the years: helping members find work, inviting new people, jumping in to help whenever there is a need.                                This past week George came by to fix the bus, and while he was here he power washed everything, fixed the men’s room sink, hung out with Enoch. We are so thankful for George and his heart for God, and for RCA
