Webinar: Efficient Irrigation Practices for Medians and Park Strips

Don't miss the newest edition of the AWE and EPA WaterSense Outdoor Water Webinar series! Join the Alliance on Thursday, October 31 at 1 p.m. CDT to hear speakers from across the country discuss Efficient Irrigation Practices for Medians and Park Strips.

The East Bay Municipal Utility District will discuss the challenges of managing drip irrigation on park strips and inclines, as well as opportunities to improve system efficiency. The Oklahoma City (Oklahoma) Utilities Department will address high water pressure and low distribution uniformity across the median and approaches to using WaterSense labeled pressure-regulated spray sprinkler bodies and efficient nozzles to reduce water waste. Finally, Denver (Colorado) Botanic Gardens will discuss plant selection for median and sidewalk strips.

Thanks to everyone who attended WSI 2019 this year for another excellent conference, and for stopping by the CalWEP/AWE game show lounge in the exhibit hall. Special congratulations to Jake Loukeh of Chino Hills and Dean Wang of Long Beach Water - this year's winners of "Water You Know?!" They guessed SIX correct water terms in 30 seconds to clinch victory!

Framework Tracking Tool Updated Funding Request

Can you help CalWEP develop an important resource? Many thanks to those listed here who have already contributed to update the AWE Conservation Tracking Tool! This open-source, Excel-based tool will be available to all CalWEP member agencies to assist in planning cost-effective, water-saving programs to meet new water efficiency targets. Download the updated proposal and consider contributing to this critical project. Contributors will be invited to join the Project Advisory Committee and will get first access to the newly updated tool. Contact Sarah@calwep.org.

CA-NV AWWA Announces New Leadership

Congratulations to Sue Mosburg, the next Executive Director of CA-NV AWWA!

Read the full news release here: Sue Mosburg is a Program Manager at Sweetwater Authority with responsibility for water use efficiency, employee development and risk management programs. She has served as an American Water Works Association Director representing the California Nevada Section. Sue chaired the California Water Loss Control Collaborative, and led the efforts of the CA-NV AWWA Section in administering the Water Loss Control Technical Assistance Program. She also helped to develop the Water Audit Validator Certificate Program. She is expected to begin her new position with CA-NV AWWA in January 2020.
