Please encourage youth members, young adult members and your local Branch leaders to apply for the 2020 NEXTGEN Program by completing the online application by November 1, 2019.

NEXTGEN is a 12-month leadership training program intended for NAACP members between the ages of 21 and 35. Young adult members who formerly participated in youth councils, college chapters, young adult councils or the Academic, Cultural, Technological, Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) are invited to participate. Graduates of the training will advance to participate in the NAACP’s Leadership 500 (L500) program.   The NEXTGEN Training is comprised of three (3) in-person classroom trainings, webinars, conference calls and group exercises focusing on leadership development, legislative action, unit administration, advocacy and program planning consistent with the six NAACP Game Changer areas – Economic Sustainability, Education, Health, Criminal Justice, Civic Engagement and Youth Engagement.

NEXTGEN is the intermediate program between the Youth & College Division and the Leadership 500 (L500) program. All three programs work together as a vertically aligned leadership development initiative, and reflect NAACP’s continued efforts to enhance young adult leadership and activism.

The 2020 NEXTGEN Application will close on November 1, 2019.  Applicants will be notified by February of 2020. The 2020 NEXTGEN Training will commence in March of 2020.
