DifferentBrains.org is the 501(C)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ALL neurodiversity!

Different Brains' neurodiverse team members and interns produce media (including videos, podcasts, blogs, books, and documentaries) and provide free resources for all neurodiverse conditions — intellectual and developmental differences, neurological problems, and mental health challenges — while highlighting the people making a difference. Join us as we mentor the next generation of self-advocates and share the voices for acceptance, inclusion, awareness, education, employment, and equality from around the world!
IN THIS ISSUE:

Irish autism self-advocate Jude Morrow discusses being a dad; Darlene Lancer, JD, MFT looks at how shame can become toxic; Autism coach Dr. April Lisbon shares her journey raising a son on the spectrum; epilepsy self-advocate Tom McGranahan, Jr. explains the importance of speaking out; Dr. Cholet Josue examines the importance of self-compassion; Marcie Ciampi, M.Ed. joins Spectrumly Speaking hosts Haley Moss and Dr. Lori Butts to recognize National Disability Employment Awareness Month; autism self-advocate Aaron Bouma offers his definition of "meaningful employment"; and much more!

A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER, HACKIE REITMAN, M.D.:

I want to thank the students, staff, and administration of McFatter Technical College in Davie, Florida for understanding and embracing neurodiversity!

For the fourth year in a row, dedicated educator Mary Margaret Fitzgerald invited me to come and share the concepts of neurodiversity, highlight the mission of Different Brains, and discuss how all of us can work to maximize our potential regardless of any differences or labels. It is always a pleasure, and this year was no different!

So to everyone at McFatter: keep up the great work!

-Hackie Reitman, M.D.
