MESSAGE FROM THE SENIOR PASTOR

Last Sunday we started a new series entitled Refresh which comes out of the call to prayer that I issued to us at our mid-year meeting. As part of our preparation for the new season we are praying for we are exploring some of the core commitments that form the foundation of our vision and purpose as a community of faith. The first of these commitments was to the good news.

|
|
|
It is too easy for our commitment to the good news to be compromised, but if the good news – that God is restoring everything in Jesus and invites us to participate – is really good news (and it is) this will impact how and why we do things as a community of faith.
If you weren’t there last Sunday can I encourage you to listen to the podcast. This is, I believe, a critical series for us as a church as we hope and pray for a new season of the tangible work of God.
I also asked the church to pray this week specifically that the Holy Spirit would refresh our commitment, as individuals and a community, to the good news and would show us where we have perhaps been content with a malnourished expression of faith rather than a full-bodied one of head, heart, and hands. If you have been praying this things with me – thank you – please jot down your impressions about what Jesus is saying to you and to us. We will hopefully have a forum to share these impressions with the leadership as we get closer to the end of the series.
I hope to see you Sunday as we continue our series by looking at our participation in God’s mission.

This year our Fair Trade Market is on 9am-2pm Saturday 2 November 2019 to make it more accessible for people. Hosted by our Catalyst team since 2012, the Fair Trade Market supports projects in over 30 nations, providing communities with a living wage & hope beyond the injustices of poverty. Over 30 stall holders offer Fair Trade clothes, homewares, crafts, food, jewellery, great food, music and more.

Fair Trade Market - Cake Stall Bakers
|
|
|
|
The Fair Trade Cake Stall adds to the atmosphere of the day, provides a sweet something for shoppers to add to their cup of coffee, and proceeds assist with the overheads for the Fair. Contributions are greatly appreciated.
Delivery the day before on Friday afternoon for items that will remain fresh for 24 hours (no refrigeration available): Biscuits, firm slices, shortbreads, jams, cakes for slicing the following day.
Delivery on Saturday any time till 12:00 (7:00-9:00 preferred) for all items fresh for the day: Cup Cakes, moist slices and cakes.

If you have a spare 3 hours during the week, perhaps every fortnight and you would enjoy connecting with our local community, we would love to have you in our Hopefield Op-Shop (located at 9-11 Gosport St, Cronulla). No previous experience necessary, just a welcoming friendly smile and a heart to serve others and show them God’s love.
Our Opening Hours are:
Monday ,Wednesday & Friday 9.30am - 3pm
Tuesday & Thursday 10.00am - 1.00pm
Saturday 10.00am - 2.00pm
We are looking at putting together a roster of wonderful volunteers that would be rostered on 2 volunteers per 3 hour shifts, you can choose whether you come weekly, fortnightly or monthly and either morning or afternoon.
Talk to your friends, sister or mum and come and be a part of this wonderful new ministry.
All proceeds from the store go directly to the work of Hopefield
