Dia de los Muertos: Day of the Dead Exhibit at Longmont Museum

October 10 @ 6:00 pm - November 4 @ 8:00 pm

Longmont’s annual Día de los Muertos celebration is the Longmont Museum’s signature event and the largest Day of the Dead celebration in Colorado, attracting more than 6,000 people to the exhibit, family event and related programming. The celebration demonstrates how a diverse community can come together to share a common desire – to honor our ancestors and keep their memories alive.


Young Women’s Vocal Empowerment Lunch and Learn

October 23 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Join MAIA and SPEAK for a free lunchtime gathering to learn how to support young women in self and civic advocacy through the research-based SPEAK Vocal Empowerment Program used in the MAIA Impact School.  During this session, you will experience parts of the SPEAK Program led by founders Dr. Chelsea Hackett and Dr. Beth Osnes and hear from Norma Baján, Executive Director of MAIA Impact on how the SPEAK Program has supported MAIA students.  Come see how the SPEAK Vocal Empowerment Program can support the communities you serve and get discounted enrollment in a Zoom-based Global Training Program for your staff.

Salon: African Sustainable Development

The Orbis Institute and the African Sustainable Development Foundation (ASDF) bring you a critical dialogue on the history and complexity of sustainable development in Africa. The flow of the evening will start with a short reception, followed by guest speaker presentations, a fishbowl discussion, and breakout conversations.
This event is part of a 3-part series, in efforts to help ASDF raise funds to send medical supplies to a refugee camp in Ethiopia, through a partnership with Project C.U.R.E.

Export Compliance Interest Group Meeting

The WTC Denver invites all export compliance professionals and those interested in learning more about export compliance to join us at our next Export Compliance Interest Group meetup. In this non-pitch environment, the goal is to share best practices and facilitate networking among Colorado's export compliance community. Difret Movie Screening

Based on the true story of a young Ethiopian girl kidnapped for marriage and put on trial for murder after killing her abductor. A female lawyer and women’s rights activist, Meaza Ashenafi (now newly-appointed first female President of Ethiopia’s Federal Supreme Court), takes on her defense.
Cocktail, coffee and networking reception begins at 6:00pm. Movie begins promptly at 7:00pm. Refreshments, Ethiopian food and Ethiopian coffee available for purchase.


Cybersecurity & Privacy Roundtable

5th Annual Africa Summit in Colorado

Africans make critical contributions to the world. You know it. We know it. Americans are engaged in diverse business and friendships across the 54 African countries of Africa and here at in America. But the realities get lost behind a curtain of invisibility. As a result, we are wasting an incredible wealth of social and economic opportunities. We need to break the stereotypes that hold us back. Imagine what we could do if more people were inspired to get involved and take advantage of them
The 2019 Africa Agenda Summit is dedicated to providing tools, ideas and inspiration that can help all of us to make an impact in telling a new story that opens up collaboration and mutual investment. There will be great food, dancing, and conversation!

Uhambo’s Journey: A Sustainable Model for Children with Disabilities

November 4 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Bring your lunch and learn from Shona, the Founder and Executive Director of Shonaquip and Posner member Uhambo Foundation, visiting us all the way from Cape Town. Shona will share the evolution of their social enterprise model and its recent restructuring to strengthen the ecosystem around the child. Inspired by one of her daughters, who was born with cerebral palsy, Shona McDonald is dedicated to children with disabilities. Shona’s organizations have been leading the disability sector in Africa for over 25 years, developing a holistic rights-based and inclusive model in regions of Africa that present multiple barriers.

ADOLESCO YOUTH EXCHANGE, they will match you with a student about your own age in France, Germany, Italy, or Spain (your choice). You will decide exactly WHEN (whatever’s best for your schedule), and for HOW LONG (up to 12 weeks) you want to go on exchange and host as part of our flexible and affordable nonprofit language immersion and cultural exchange program for qualifying students between ages 9 and 18.

Homestay Opportunities!
WorldDenver is hosting homestay opportunities! Currently, they are looking for volunteers for these homestay opportunities:
Russia Open World (December 6- December 14)


Expectations for Homestay Hosts:

-Provide a welcoming home that is respectful of other cultures
-Treat your guest(s) like family
-Share your favorite cultural parts of the city and state 
-Provide a room with an individual bed & access to a shared bathroom (youth can share rooms, must have individual bed)
-Provide 2 meals/day Monday-Friday, 3 meals/day on weekends (dietary restrictions may apply)
-Transportation: Students will need to be dropped off/picked up at WorldDenver office;
-Professionals: public transportation to/from worksite placements, Monday – Friday

Homestay Hosting is a great way to travel the world without leaving your home.
