Downtown Cleveland has been an anchor of growth, for both population and jobs, in a city and region that is still adapting to a post-industrial future. Downtown Cleveland Alliance commissioned the International Downtown Association to produce a report on the value and impact of Downtown Cleveland on the city and region. IDA President & CEO, David Downey, will present highlights of the report, followed by a panel discussion. The event is sponsored by Oswald Companies. Attendees will enjoy food and drink, and all will receive a copy of the report.

Ohio Governor Supports Northeast Ohio Opportunity Zones
At a seminar in Downtown Cleveland, sponsored by Washington D.C. based Urban Institute, Governor Mike DeWine confirmed his support of efforts to invest in Northeast Ohio’s Opportunity Zones which are designed to encourage development in urban neighborhoods.
Many neighborhoods in Northeast Ohio, including all of Downtown Cleveland, are designated Opportunity Zones with the qualification for projects to receive tax credit incentives.

Cleveland chosen for London Stock Exchange Program's North American Headquarters
The London Stock Exchange officially announced plans for Cleveland to host the North American headquarters for its international business development team. The headquarters for the London Stock Exchange Group's Elite Initiative, which trains small and medium sized companies to help them grow, plans to open in 2020.

Geis Cos. Purchases The Avenue Tower
Stepping in to diversify Downtown housing options, adding for-sale condominiums to the mix, Geis Cos. acquired the 10-story Avenue Tower and associated land at 1211 St, Clair Ave. With further plans submitted to the City of Cleveland Planning Commission, Geis plans to build an additional five-floor condo building, with 31 units just north of the tower.
Adding a mixture of for sale housing to the Downtown residential portfolio is key to Downtown reaching 30,000 residents by 2030 as noted in the 2018 Housing Demand Study, conducted by Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Philadelphia based Urban Partners.

Hosts Lauren and Michael ask our guests to share their expertise and experiences on the subjects of diversity and inclusion, what sets Cleveland apart from other major cities, and ways we can do better. Both Phyllis and Councilman McCormack talk about the equitable work being done and the economic importance of being an inclusive and welcoming downtown.

Demand in Downtown Cleveland's for sale market grows as builder Bo Knez continues construction of the highly anticipated Avenue Townhomes. Crain's Cleveland Business reported 10 units sold in the 12-unit phase of The Avenue townhouses and Knez just received approval from the City of Cleveland for another 17 units on Superior Avenue.
The maturation of the for sale market is a key component in the forecast for Downtown Cleveland to reach 30,000 residents by 2030 as indicated in the 2018 Downtown Cleveland Housing Demand Study conducted by Downtown Cleveland Alliance and Urban Partners.

The Avenue District Development
The next phase of The Avenue District development has been revived thanks to Geis Co.
Recently, the local developer received schematic design approval from the city's design review committee for a proposal to build a 31-unit condominium building next to The Avenue District apartment tower at East 12th and St. Clair.
Downtown Cleveland Alliance Executive Vice President, Tom Yablonsky represents the Alliance as well as the Historic Gateway District and Historic Warehouse District on the City of Cleveland's Design Review Committee.
