Attitude of Gratitude

On Saturday, October 26 the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester will hold our annual convention at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Our time will begin with liturgy and then on to various points of business. I give thanks to God for our St. Thomas' delegation: Brian Kruschwitz, Janet Sowden and Susie Seipel and alternate Caroline Yates. We have several folks offering themselves up for service at the diocesan level, along with our own Peter Barker as our district warden. Please hold the delegates, the clergy, our Bishop and our diocese in your prayers.
Peace,  Amma Leslie+

Worship Ministries

All Saints Dedication
All Saints’ Day, which we will observe this year on November 3, is a special time in the church year for remembering our loved ones who have died. These persons may be family members or special persons who have brought us closer to Christ. At all services on that weekend we will pray by name for members of our parish who died in the past year. The service bulletin will also list other loved ones whose names have been submitted by parishioners.

You may submit a name or names of family members online by clicking here or you may use the forms in the church narthex and place them in the offering plate, or return them to the church office by Wednesday, October 30.

Acolyte Meeting and Training
There will be an Acolyte Meeting and Training Session on November 3 after the 10:00 a.m. service. All are welcome. We are trying something new: if you can hold a torch without tipping it over, and can sit still during the service, we have a place for you. Ages 5-to whatever. Contact Andrea Stridiron at 585-442-8236 or stritz@frontiernet.net if you would like more information. Being an acolyte does not take up much time. You’re there for the service anyway, why not consider becoming an acolyte?

Living “The Way of Love: Self-Understanding” – an Enneagram Workshop
Led by Emily Pelkowski on Sunday, November 3; 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“The Enneagram is an ancient, unique, in-depth tool used for self-discovery. It gives language around the age-old question: “Why do I do the things I do?” It helps you to wake up to your life and better understand who you are, those around you, and the world. In this introductory workshop, you'll learn more about what the Enneagram is, an overview of each number, and how to incorporate this tool into your life to better understand your relationships and yourself."

Prior to the workshop, please take the enneagram test online: https://assessment.yourenneagramcoach.com/ to learn your number. Please click here to register for the workshop and lunch by Monday, October 28.

 Prayer for Daily Life

A Prayer Before Worship
O Gracious God, whose mercies are new every morning; we thank you for the blessing of your sanctuary. Open our hands and ears and mouths that we might praise you. Open our hearts and minds and souls that we may be fed by both word and sacrament, through Christ our Lord, we pray. Amen.

Habitat for Humanity House
It’s a busy Habitat season. 39 Love Street, Rochester was just dedicated Friday, October 18 for our new homeowner Eudosia and her family. It’s a 3-bedroom 1-1/2 bath two-story home now with new windows, stylish ceramic tile kitchen floor and coordinating subway tile backsplash. Eudosia received Habitat's traditional hammer and Bible, and also a home coach to guide her through homeownership’s challenges.  She moves in November 1. Thanks to Amma Leslie who said a wonderful blessing for the house and to all who helped build or contributed.

Congratulations to Deacon Andrea on her new position as Diocesan Deacon Coordinator! This doesn’t change her role here at St. Thomas’. It just extends her gifts throughout the Diocese.
