“If you make enough difference at the margins, year in and year out, pretty soon you look around and the world is a better place.”
- Former President Bill Clinton
Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services team member Duncan Milne joined more than 1,500 other investors, federal policymakers, and stakeholders committed to expanding economic opportunity throughout the nation at the Opportunity Finance Network conference in Washington, DC this past week.

The conference was held to explore the expansion and reach of community development financial institutions (CDFIs), private financial institutions dedicated to delivering responsible, affordable lending to help underserved people and communities join the economic mainstream. Currently, the United States boasts more than 1,000 CDFIs in all 50 states, but more can (and should) be done.

For the past 5 years, Dixon Center has worked with national and local organizations to expand funding streams for veteran entrepreneurs. Our collaboration with several of the CDFIs and financial institutions present at the OFN conference has helped them develop their distribution strategies to find and focus on veteran entrepreneurs in local communities.
