Join LMCC for the Last Week
of our Inaugural Season!

We’re capping off our transformative fall season with a holistic weekend of hands-on artmaking. Join us as traditional crafts are revived and celebrated this coming Saturday, October 26 in the final installment of the Take Care Series at LMCC's Arts Center at Governors Island.

Artist Anne Mourier presents Taking Care Laundry, a performance of domestic rituals in which audience members are invited to do laundry—with intention. Learn the basics of embroidery from artist Iviva Olenick in a walk-in workshop for all ages. With Love from Rajasthan is a block printing workshop presented by IXV coffee with Studio Bagru from Jaipur, India. Create new favorites from old garments using our traditional Rajasthani wooden blocks as well as modern designs carved by artisans in Bagru, a small village dedicated to textiles and the art of block printing.

LMCC's Arts Center is open until October 31, every Thursday – Sunday from 12pm - 5pm. Visit Yto Barrada with guest artist Bettina: The Power of Two Suns and Michael Wang: Extinct in New York

All events are free and all are welcome!

Can solace be found in the power of solidarity? Yto Barrada and guest artist Bettina reflect on our individual and collective reactions to the onset of disaster. Through documentary abstraction channeled through clear lines, simple shapes, and a reduced palette, Barrada and Bettina imagine a quieter beginning.

Critics' Pick: Michael Wang at LMCC’s Arts Center at Governors Island

"Michael Wang’s 'Extinct in New York,' a botanical triage unit of sorts, propagates and tenderly cares for dozens of plants that have been driven out—or otherwise eradicated—from the five boroughs due to overdevelopment, pollution, and other adverse conditions." Read more in Artforum.
