THURSDAYS & SUNDAYS AT THE BRYAN MUSEUM (1315 21ST ST.)
Ghoooooul morning, Galveston!

Last Sunday at our 7th Annual Birthday, we offered a small preview of our Why I GOFM video. Now, here it is in your mailbox for you to watch and enjoy all the warm, feel good vibes GOFM has to offer.

We'd like to give a special shout out to Virginia Greb & Shane Greb for spending countless hours producing this amazing video, Kevin Anthony & G-Town for the super snazzy music, all the beautiful people showcased in these clips, our Friends of GOFM, and EVERYONE who believed in the lil' Farmers Market That Could.
Galveston's Own Farmers Market: is made up of 4 arms of programming: our weekly year-round markets, the Food Access Program, the Real Food Project & the Young Gardeners Program.
Lastly, just a few quick announcements for what's coming up these next few weeks:
  • Did you know we've switched to our Fall Sunday Hours (9a-1p)? Now you can enjoy a whole another hour of shopping at market and visiting our community partners!

  • We're celebrating Halloween all week next week (Sunday 10/27 and Thursday 10/31). See the fun things planned below.

  • We're hosting a Car Seat Drive on Sunday, November 3! If you have gently used car seats or booster seats, consider donating them to the Galveston County Children's Services Board of CPS.
See you at market!

GOFM Recipe of the Week Picadillo

Picadillo with Cauliflower Rice

Did you know that we offer a variety of Cooking Classes through the year? It's a great way to meet new people, have fun, and learn how to make new dishes from start to finish -- like this one! Enhance the dish by using local beef from Spring Hill Farms or Law Ranch this Sunday.
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • Pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 ¾ teaspoons salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • (see full list of ingredients here)
  1. In a large, heavy saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the onion and cook until tender and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook another minute.
  2. Add ground beef, salt and pepper, and saute, breaking up the meat with a spatula. Cook until the liquid has evaporated and the meat sizzles. Add spices and bay leaves and saute for 30 seconds.
  3. Add tomatoes and their juices, sweet potato, wine and vinegar. Bring to a boil, lower the heat to a simmer, cover and cook for 15 minutes.
  4. Uncover pan and add the raisins and olives. Allow to cook for another 10 minutes. Garnish with cilantro, if using. Serve over calui-rice.
