Volume 12                                                                                           Novemer  2019
Firefly Fiber Broadband has created a service preregistration page for all Spring Creek residents, at https://register.fireflyva.com/
The pre-registration period is open now, and will remain open for several months until fiber construction crews complete the fiber build in our area.

Spring Creek Land Development has just signed easements for Firefly and CVEC.  The easements run under and the width of the entire right of way so that Firefly can locate its fiber therein with broad discretion. The work to install the main fiber lines is expected to begin within the next 30-45 days. All vehicles and workers for CVEC, Firefly and its contractors will be clearly labelled and identified.

The first step will be micro trenching, which involves cutting a very small, one-inch wide path for the fiber to be placed underground. CVEC would like to begin that work in November.
The next step will be construction to place the underground vaults or pedestals which will contain a fiber connection point for each residence, and splicing those fiber taps to the main fiber lines. Tap construction and splicing is expected to begin before year end.
The final step will be to install and activate a fiber connection from the tap to those residences which have preregistered for Firefly service.  The first connections will be activated as early as January or February. Service installations are expected to be ongoing for a few months thereafter. Firefly’s goal is to connect all preregistered residents within Q1 of 2020.

Spring Creek Land Development is working closely with CVEC and Firefly on this exciting new service for our community. We will provide additional updates as more details are received. Thank you for your interest in the project, and your patience with the fiber construction process.

Non-Fiction Books Needed for the Lending Library; New Shelf for Book Club Selections

While the Lending Library in the Sports Club has a robust selection of Fiction, we would welcome donations of Non-Fiction books.  Thanks in advance!

Also, the top shelf of the bookcase on the right as you enter is now dedicated to selections that the five Spring Creek Book Clubs have read/are reading.

On October 17, the Library Committee hosted the first meeting for people that are in a book club in the Spring Creek community or interested in being in one. It was well attended and well received. Watch for details at the start of 2020 about "Spring Creek Reads", an opportunity for all the book clubs to read the same book and meet together for a group discussion/event.

The Belmont Clothing Center volunteers from Spring Creek, now numbering 14, volunteering Monday, Wednesday and Thursday each week, have been busy over the last month organizing an end of summer sale and making the change over from summer to winter clothing.  They have also been heavily involved in the collection of two donations, the larger coming from The Charlottesville Aldersgate United Methodist Church sale.  As always, we are very happy to receive donations from our neighbors within Spring Creek.  We are especially looking for all sizes of men’s and teenager items.  Please drop off your donations at the library in the Spring Creek Community Club building or contact
Shirley Eames at eames325@gmail.com/434-227-5562 or Peggy Fletcher at purplepeg72@gmail.com/540-323-3117 and we will arrange to collect them.  Thank you to all our hardworking volunteers and to the Spring Creek community for its generous support.

Safety Reminder
Please ensure your porch light, garage lights, and post light are in good working order. If your lights have sensors, make sure the sensors are clear of debris. Lights on for safety especially during the next three months as the days get shorter and many communities experience an increase in vandalism!!!
