Corey Wedlock (Warilla) has won the final of the 2019 Champion of Club Champions Singles, ending the campaign of Peter Taylor (Alstonville) to capture both the Champion of Club Champions Pairs and Singles Titles.

Wedlock found the pace and line very early in the final and was peppering the jack to dominate the early scoring. He raced out to a 12-1 lead before Taylor too found great form and fought his way back into the match to trail 13-18.
Wedlock then regained his dominance, pushing back out to a 9-shot lead.
Taylor appeared to be about to fight back into the match winning consecutive ends to trail 16-24 only to see Wedlock once again push into dominance. Wedlock only dropped on more end to power to a 31-18 victory.

Bowls NSW thanks South Tamworth Bowling Club. The efforts of the Board, staff and volunteers were greatly appreciated by all and contributed to a fantastic event. The Champion of Champions will return to South Tamworth in 2020.

Alstonville pair Rodney McCabe and Peter Taylor have taken out the 2019 NSW Champion of Club Champions Pairs title, winning a gripping final at South Tamworth Bowling Club.

McCabe and Taylor were locked in an epic battle with Raymond Terrace duo Clinton Doust and Matthew Baus. The lead traded several times and was not greater than 3 before the final end.

Alstonville led by a single shot going into the final end, with the jack moved several times Doust and Baus were forced to play attacking shots to manufacture a result. The result did not eventuate and Alstonville scored a 4 to blow the score out 19-14.

McCabe and Taylor progressed to the final with a solid win over Michael Wilks and Jay Breust (Merimbula) while Doust and Baus eliminated Tailor Appleby and Nathan Dawson (Kurri Kurri) in a close fought contest.

New South Wales duo Ray Pearse and Dawn Hayman have been respectively crowned the 2019 Men’s and Women’s Australian Champion of Champions following standout performances at South Perth Bowls Club, Western Australia.

Pearse triumphed 21-4 in the final round of play against Northern Territory’s Bruce Fyfe to make up the shot margin required to overtake Victoria’s Nathan Bush, who held the lead and a five-shot advantage following the penultimate round. Still requiring a win to have any chance of the title, Bush was beaten by Queensland’s Eric Johannes 17-21 in the final round, which quashed any hope of his superior margin coming into play.

Fellow BCiB Australian Jackaroo Hayman had already sewn up the title with a round to spare, despite losing her final match against NT’s Colleen Orr.

Both players will now represent Australia at the 2020 World Singles Champion of Champions in Adelaide, South Australia.
